I'd like to see sources for the second link, Myth #9.

Quite a revelation if true.

I am a little concerned about the age of some of the facts in the NC link. I see 1980, 1994, etc. Is there simply no newer studies/statistics available on these same studies, or are they just reporting old stuff?

The source is identified in the column as:

"A nationwide study by Don Kates, the constitutional lawyer and criminologist, found that only 2 percent of civilian shootings involved an innocent person mistakenly identified as a criminal. The 'error rate' for the police, however, was 11 percent, more than five times as high."

After the Tucson tragedy the GCNs tried to villianize Joe Zamudio who was armed, ran to the shooting, saw a man with a gun, assessed the situation and within a split second made the correct decision not to shoot. They not bring up the times when "well trained" police shoot in error.
