    Poll: don't change gun law

This poll is no where near correct, every CC permit holder I have talked to wants the new law every one! I want to know who voted in this poll, in what area the people live do they have a CPL or not excreta. This is B.S in my opinion!!!

As they say, there are three types of lies- lies, damn lies and statistics.

As someone pointed out, with a sample size of around 600, the results shouldn't be considered statistically significant.

Of course, that doesn't prevent uneducated media ****** from trumpeting it from the rooftops as evidence that their fear-mongering is justified.

If 600 were polled on this website, what would the results look like? Bet they would love to see that at their editors desk.

Yeah with that logic you would think this poll would be 100% to 0%, but hey, sometimes logic doesn't work with everyone.

I would like to look at the actual question that was asked. I wonder, too, if they informed the people that CPL holders can already carry in the listed places, just that this law would allow them to conceal their pistol. So, in my mind, this is an invitation to carry openly in the No Concealed Carry Zones. I bet the sheep would be happy to have us conceal then.

First, let me begin by saying that constitutional rights should not be based upon the idea of "majority rules"... in fact, constitutional protections are only needed when it is the will of the majority to inflict "majority rules" legislation upon people. If a majority of people thought that CC should be allowed everywhere, we wouldn't even have such restrictions now.
Therefore, I really don't look at this as that important in the big picture because HOPEFULLY the legislators see their responsibility is to first uphold the Constitution. Then again, when was the last time a legislator actually behaved counter to their 'feelings' if those 'feelings' ran counter to the Constitution? Ah yes... that pesky oath and all.

BTW, some of you may be put off by the sample size of 600. However, since the percentages were not even close, allowing for a confidence interval of +/- 4, and guessing that they shot for a 95% confidence level, a sample size of 600 would be about right. I could write a text-book about this but alas, this is an Open Carry website, not a statistical philosophy course.
I do have my concerns with the question(s) asked and other aspects of the poll. But, thinking that the data is probably quite sound, what this REALLY tells us is that we have to get moving on this issue if we want this legislation to pass.

    What is Democracy?

Democracy is 2 wolves and a sheep voting on what's for dinner.

.....and liberty is a well armed sheep contesting the vote!

I agree that a poll on a constitutional issue should not be significant.

I also think that the wording of a poll has a lot to do with how people answer.

For instance, cpl holders can already legally possess firearms at a bar, church, school etc as long as the firearm is not concealed; would you support legislation that would allow these same individuals to carry concealed pistols on these same premises?

Found it. People said NO do to the paragraph long question.

    On another topic…
__40. Michigan law currently allows individuals who have been granted a permit to carry a concealed weapon, specifically a handgun, to carry their concealed handgun anywhere except in schools or on school property, public or private day care centers, sports arenas or stadiums, bars and taverns, churches, synagogues, mosques, temples or other places of worship, entertainment facilities, hospitals, college dormitories or classrooms, casinos, and courtrooms. Legislation has been introduced which would remove these exceptions and allow anyone with a concealed weapons permit to carry their handgun anywhere, including the list of places which are currently banned. Based on what you know about this issue, do you favor or oppose the proposal to allow concealed handguns to be carried anywhere? [IF FAVOR/OPPOSE, ASK: ‘Would that be strongly or somewhat?’ AND CODE BEST RESPONSE]
    18% Strongly favor
11% Somewhat favor 29% Total Favor
    7% Somewhat oppose
61% Strongly oppose 68% Total Oppose
    3% Undecided/Refused
