He was naked.
And, King County prosecutors contend, he was packing.
Filing unlawful gun possession, prosecutors claim Cornell Paige, 30, stripped off his clothes on the stoop of a Federal Way home just after midnight on March 3.
In addition to his jeans, shirt and right shoe, Paige -- also known as Carnell Paige -- had freed himself of a .38 caliber pistol, according to charging documents.
Police were called to the 14th Avenue South home at 12:30 a.m. after a woman there reported a naked stranger was banging on her front door, demanding to be let inside. Officers arrived to find Paige nearly nude.
"The male, later identified as Cornell Paige, was standing in front of the residence wearing only underwear and one shoe," a Federal Way detective told the court. "This attire was not appropriate for the weather conditions as it was the middle of the night, and it was about 38 degrees and damp outside."
Next to Paige was a pile of clothing and the pistol, the detective continued. His wallet was found in the home's driveway.
Previously convicted of robbery, Paige is barred by law from possessing a firearm. He is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm.
Paige remains jailed on $100,000 bail.
