Juan LaFonta introduces ridiculous anti-ammo bill

State Rep. Juan LaFonta (D-96th (NOLA)) has introduced a ridiculous bill, HB-8, that would require anyone buying ammunition to bring the gun with them, and the store to record the serial number after verifying it's the same caliber.

Of course it won't go anywhere, but how stupid can you get?

This will be fun at Walmart!

I am originally from NYS and my brother who still lives there can't buy pistol ammo if the the caliber is not listed on his pistol permit (which is a joke also since it allows you to purchase a pistol, not to carry it).

I would love to see this when you have to bring your AR-15 to the local Walmart to get some .233 or 5.56. How about bringing your 30-06 in too?

I was in New Orleans today - granted it's a place with unique issues but this is not going to stop anything because they will find straw buyers to bring the same 9mm in to get 5000 rounds and sell it on the black market.

    I wonder

I caint help but wonder what Lafonta's intent really is with this bill.

Should I carry all three of my .22 rifles and my .22 pistol into WalMart when I need more ammo?

    Just thinking out loud.

Someone should call and ask him. He was out the day I called. (rolleyes)

And his aid pleaded ignorance. (rolleyes)

Since he is infringing rights, just assume he knows what he is doing and has foreseen the same consequences you do.

One that comes quickly to mind is that many businesses who could make the choice would stop selling ammo rather than have guns coming and going. Suddenly ammo is harder to come by. More impositions = less frequently a right is exercised.
