Matt Bennett is a Progressive

Are there any documented cases of this? Let alone "overwhelming" numbers...?

Since Bennett seems to like background checks, do one on him. See what turns up, like this:

Gun debate heads to Hill

"If someone purchases a gun legally, there is very little a federal law could do to have an impact," Matt Bennett of Third Way, a moderate think tank, said. The advocacy group includes several former members of Americans for Gun Safety, which fought for stricter gun laws in the 1990s.

Trying to mainstream, what are they talking about?

I thought open carry was already mainstreamed in Virginia.

Is gum chewing gum mainstreamed in Virginia? I can't chew gum in Norfolk City Hall, but I can carry my gun.

In Virginia I can even ride the bus go to Starbucks and then go to the city park while open carrying.

Northern urban Virginia may have a few scared ninnys, but for the most part it is a non-issue in Virginia.
