    Man worried about drive-by

    http://www.journaltimes.com/news/loc...cc4c03286.html

RACINE - A man worried about a drive-by at his Olive Street home reportedly took to the roof with guns on Sunday.

The man, Michael R. Harrington, 25, of the 4200 block of Olive Street, told police his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend sent him several text messages that day that appeared to say there would be a shooting. He called a neighbor, who has several guns for hunting, and told him about the expected drive-by.

He should of filed a police report first to document the threats and make a demand for police protection since he is a felon and cannot by law defend himself , Then take appropriete action if need be after consulting the lawyer.

    What other thoughts out there?

"Harrington told police he told the other residents of the home to go to the basement for safety."

    Follow his own advise maybe?

I think there wasn't a single legal action taken by any of those involved.

it's too bad, once your a felon...you can't defend yourself from someone with a gun.

18 year old, robs gas station...goes to prison for 10 years, serves his time, does not get into any trouble while in prison, get's released. Finds a job, stays out of trouble, pay his taxes, 8 years later is at home sleeping...wakes to hear windows breaking...calls 911 , cops are 10 minutes away.... 2 Armed thugs find him in bathroom & shoot him 6 times & kill's him..... Cops show up to find dead guy in bath tub.... He might have been alive if he was able to defend himself ...but a felon can't have a gun....... Are these laws a bit screwed up ???

Yup. Don't let 'em out of prison if you can't trust 'em with a gun.

Worse yet, the offenses that are considered felonies are continually being expanded, pretty soon Jaywalking will be a felony to continually disarm people by simply lowering the bar of what is considered a felony these days. They keep chipping away and chipping away, lower the circumstances of what is a felony, lower magazine capacities, it will never end until we fight for our rights tooth and nail and never give up.
