In July I will be coming to NC to visit my sister what are the OC rules and laws in your state and are they reciprocal to a PA LTCF ? Thanks for any advice you can give.

OC needs no license of any kind. See the flier in the sticky on the NC forum for more info about where you can and can't carry.

Visiting in Charlotte Area next week

Have a VA CHP, but I usually OC in VA most places. Is the Charlotte area and surrounding area "OC Friendly" or should I just keep "low profile" and CC while I'm there? How about Concord and farther south around Waxhaw?

Thanks!

You might want to touch base with GrassRoots North Carolina http://www.grnc.org/ - really good group - they have a similar forum.

NC preemption is not total or at least has its inconsistencies.

Some local restrictions. Cary, NC - no OC on public property, includes streets and sidewalks. Chapel Hill, NC - minimum barrel length - note not maximum.

No guns where alcohol served.

If stopped by LEO while driving, you must immediately notify.

Best to really do your research.

When I used to live in Charlotte, I had a special LEO ticket (Special Officer) from an exceptional NC Chief. Had full capacity, but primary purpose was to CC anywhere - those where the good ol' days, doubt the condition even exists any longer. Could tell you some sea stories.
