i like the style of the nagant. but found it rather 'snotty' to shoot. i intend to test out the Mauser this summer, and see how it behaves.

First Mosin-Nagant I have ever seen fail like that. My guess would be bad metallurgy or some failure. These rifles are old and it takes but one bad score/scrape/crack oh-so-many-years ago to let rust develop and lead to a failure. In fact... I'd be curious about all these circa-1920s rifles.

I have also seen a multitude of metal fatigue failures. Without being able to inspect the pieces, it is difficult to pin-point where that fracture originated from...
