Beretta 92 INOX.

Have ordered a New Beretta FS92 INOX. Does anyone here own one? Are you happy with it? Haz.

I don't have one but one of my buddies did and regrets selling it to this day. He got married and sold off his guns and that is the one he really wants back. He is a better shot than me so I take his opinion seriously.

I have one. It was made in Italy. Absolutely no problems with it. If you want a set of old style Crimson Trace lazer grips for yours contact me.

No thanks for the offer of the tracergrips. Seems I have a wait for about a month or two as the Beretta Inox, coming from Italy, are in demand according to my supplier. He told me Beretta Australia submits orders for a number of hand guns and they do not know if or how many will be sent untill they arrive? Been waiting for about two weeks so far. Have a while to go.

I don't have the Inox but I have a Beretta 92 built in Italy. I don't like the grip because it feels too big in my hand but other than that, I have absolutely no issues with it. The open-top slide is essentially jam-proof and it keeps on ticking with whatever I feed it. Even soldiers who "hate the Beretta" usually will admit that the pistol itself is reliable but they hate the 9mm ball military ammo. Loaded with a good modern high-velocity hollow point, it will do a perfectly acceptable job of putting a miscreant down. A pistol this size firing 9mm ammo is a pussycat and almost anyone can learn to be fast and accurate with it.

Get this bit of unsound logic! I had as always had to go through the usual checks and balances placed upon us after the gun ban down under, and even though I am licenced to own firearms, and those I have are registered, I still had to wait, a 15 day cooling off period, before my permit to aquire came through.

That was originally put into law for new licence applicants to stop them immediately buying a firearm to commit crime, before thorough checks are made on the applicant. This however does not stop criminals buying firearms on the black market! It only stops law abiding citizens leagally buying firearms.

I can understand that ok! But presently, licenced firearm owners who have registered firearms still need to wait out the cooling 15 day off period while they are checked out by the police firearms registry.

Now this is the really funny part. Licenced firearms owners in Australia cannot purchase a hand gun with 15 round mags. I never asked my dealer for 15 round mags, but he told me anyway, "that I can forget that." No one knows why thisis? Maybe the powers to be think a hand gun with 2 x ten round mags is not as dangerous as one with 2 x 15 rounds if it is to used to comitt a crime?

Sounds like those same type of people were at some local Walmarts here that decided to not sell ammo to anyone carrying a loaded firearm. (it was a local manager policy seen by a few OC-ers)

Were doing our best. We just had a state election. We now have 2 shooters and fishers party members who can and do cross the floor and vote with the Christian Democrates to either pass sensible or reject stupid policy. The Greens, our anti-gun, anti everything, fun police who are trying to lock up state forrests to not only shooters but everyone else are having a fit knowing they can no longer hold sway over the major party and stick it into shooters and fishers, in fact we now can slowly get some sensible outcomes and return of our rights regarding the shooters and fishers, horse riders and 4 wheel drivers rights to engage in their sports. Hopefully the other Aussie states will follow suite when they see things slowly improving in NSW!

Glad to hear you have been able make progress. Maybe in a few years I will find my way down there and throw back a few pints. I hear it is a thirsty country and my powerful thirst might fit right in. :lol:

(actually the most recent Aussie I met was a military man stationed here that looked about as clean cut and professional as they come so my preconceived notion of heavy drinking Aussies may be my fanciful thinking)

Mate, its a big empty country that creats a big thirst, especially if one's income is derived from hard labor. Most of us older men, and most of those in the services are sensible family men with responsibilities they never shirk under any circumstances. Its the younger ones these day which for some reason do not respect law and order, or anyones feelings but their own!

Many people dont realise the fact that Australia is roughly the size of the USA or even Europe. At 30 September 2010 Australias population was 22,408,000and rising. Thousands of illegals are landing on our unpatroled shores. Indonesia, just a few miles north of us, about the size of the state of NSW has a population of 237.5 million! A mate of mine involved in Australia training some of Indonesias military said they had a map on the wall with Aus., coloured red. he asked what that was and was told laughingly in broken englis, "We will coming to your country one day."

22 million Aussies whos defence forces are in Afganistan whilst the Afganistan illeegal refugees are burning down and destroying the Villawood refugee detention center in Sydney, against 237.5 million hungry Indonesians? Here we have our Federal government suing our state government for "enforcing" federal law on illegal immigration! The crazies are running the assylum!

The world seems to be going to hell in a handbasket so make your peace with God because I don't see it getting better any time soon.

I am curious how you came to decide on the Berretta 92. I personally like 45acp and lean towards Sig Sauer P220, H&K USP as my favorite handguns. It is a fine handgun by all measures but there is an ongoing caliber war between 9mm and other calibers. I would recommend using +P ammunition.

Its bad all right. We had one of our prominent politicians arrested for child pornography a day or so ago. The illegals are arriving here by the boat load and are given everything they demand whilst we have Australian nationals living in squallor after the Qld. floods and not getting any help except donations whilst our government is sending billions of dollars in aid to Indonesia, and they in turn send us illegal imigrants.

These illegals are burning up and destroying the facilities provided, one the other night on the TV news was filmed throwing tiles off the roof at security guards, whilst texting on a cellphone, which we the tax payers provided them! 20 or so have been arrested and now the government is giving them legal aid because they alledged they were treated badly and were falsley arrested. Its a joke.

I think 9mm will do me as I will only be using it for target shooting. (Any form of self defence is illegal here!). Women are even banned from carrying mace or even hair spray for self defence. Some have been arrested here doing just that. Its a mad world all right!

Somehow it's not terribly comforting to know that your national government is as insane as ours!

At least we haven't outlawed self-defense in most parts of the country...yet. It's still alive and well here in Alaska; consequently, car jacking and home invasion aren't a problem at all. Mugging and assault still occur some in the bar (pub) district because drunks have poor judgment.

I have to admit, it does give me a good feeling to know that I can legally walk into a store, buy a handgun, load it, drop it into a holster, and walk out with it in plain view. Conversely, it is a downer to know that most people in the world can't do that.

Now I'm bummed. I need to play some Slim Dusty to improve my mood!

Get this! In NSW only, self defence in the home using only as much force as absolutly necessary is permitted, regardless, if one isfortunate to be licenced and has legal firearm in the home they, . . . all firearms . . . must be locked in a safe at all times, and all ammo must also be locked away in a seperate safe or compartment. So, if a home invader breaks in to our home, and if we make it to our phone, while we are dialing "000," I suppose we can politely ask the armed rapist, armed robber, or armed murderer if they would mind waiting a minutor two while we unlock our gun and ammo safe so that we can defend ourselves. Thats a good law isnt it!

"A Word to Texas Jack" cracks me up! And of course, "The Man From Snowy River" is based upon one of the two most exciting horse-related poems ever, the other being "A Ballad of East and West." "The Band Played Waltzing Matilda" hit a little too close to home and made me cry, but it is an amazing song.

Until the crazies are voted out of (stormed from) office, some entrepreneur needs to create a remote controlled fast opening dual safe system so in a push of a button both doors swing open so you can access your guns quickly.

Of course you could simply have two safes somewhere and a loaded gun on your nightstand and if someone breaks in you could tell police you went and opened each safe and loaded your pistol/shotgun before the bad guy confronted you. ;-)

This is the x-Prim Minister who banned guns in Australia. Every where he went he had a gaggle of armed security guards with him. He even wore a bullet proof vest when he toured Queensland trying to convince farmers that banning guns was good for Australia and for them. They turned their backs on him. As for the rest, they all have as you said, armed bodyguards and I am sure they CC.

Jeeper: Do those grips have an activation button on both sides? Being a right hander, i feel it would be hard to activate it.... If it does, I may be interested in them.

Now to the original question. I have always hated M9s in the Army and I have always allowed that to taint my view of Beretta pistols on the civilian side. Now that I am no longer enlisted and with my career field in the Army the M9 is what I will be carrying during deployments. Because of this, I picked up a very lightly used 92FS a couple of days ago so that I would be completely familiar with the location of the safety, use of the decocking feature, etc. Let me tell you something. I absolutely love it. It's extremely accurate, comfortable to shoot, and just really nice. It's got a good heft to it, so the 9mm round feels almost like shooting a bb gun. My view of Beretta pistols has taken a 180 degree turn. However, I still hate old crappy banged up M9's. That's not necessarily Beretta's fault, just a lack of proper maintenance and a lot of use and abuse on them
