    Take it easy, guys

I know that everyone is distraught about recent events, but on behalf of Florida Carry, I need to remind you that the posts on this and other freedom-type forums are constantly searched by bots for ammo tu use against our efforts. Posts are pulled, printed and circulated.

Additionally, vitriolic emails and phone calls to our elected representatives and friendly lobbyists DOES NOT HELP, and damages the reputation we are trying to build. These are the same folks whose HELP we will need in the year and years ahead if we are going accomplish anything in the way of rights expansion.

So please, think twice before pushing the Send button.

    Thanks,
    Scott

Understood sir. Please delete any of my posts which seem innapropriate. I try to watch my mouth (fingers?) but know my self-control isn't perfect when we're all so riled up. We need to stick together, not attack each other here, in addition to being open and firm with presenting our stances to our legislators while maintaining civility.

Edit: mods, consider my message redirected to you, thanks.

    American Government 101:
The Executive branch's job is to provide celebrity figureheads for the pandering populace.
The Legislative branch's job is to progressively destroy our freedoms for the "safety" of "We the Sheeple."
The Judicial branch's job is to look like they're defending our freedoms against the abuses of the Legislative branch, only by token gestures that do not interfere is this pivotal process, but enough to deceive "We the People" into a false sense of security.

Are you a mod over on 'the dark side'? (you know, the other place, where we secretly talk about concealing our guns because it's the only legal way to carry)

Same here man, if I've said anything dumb and someone catches it, flag it or tell a mod or something. I've been pretty upset over this.

Amen... Rattle some cages and shake some bones and make some get a grip and wake up... It is 2011.. Time to see real change since it did not happen when some said it would... Heck the only thing that those bots check are to see what is getting some hits, so they can be directed to the right thing... Remember we do still have some freedom..!

No, brought to you by someone who is hip-deep in the process and understands the effect that threatening communications has on the process.

You can demand, stomp your footies and whine about your 'rights' all you want. See how far it gets you. Aggravating those that will vote on what you are demanding does not help, it hurts the cause. But go right ahead and continue to present the image of a 'gun-nut', and guarantee the status quo (you might want to look that one up).

A sheep working on your behalf? Cute. You have no idea who I am or what I've done on your behalf.

What exactly have YOU done to help besides prattle childish rhetoric on a website?

Dude, I’m not sure who you are but I think your one that is on the hill working for us. You really do not need to defend yourself against post like that. Tempers are up and they are venting, Their aim is not good but I for one appreciate everyone of the guys working on behalf of open carry and dealing with legislators. I know that is not an easy task and frustrating to say the least. I did it for years on other issues..

I for one appreciate all the work done so far. Does more pressure need to be put on those who would squander our freedom, absolutely, but there is a wrong and a right way. As an active member in the Libertarian Party, I have been actively pushing for open carry to be a cause. I will push it that much more this year. Ultimately we will not get this until we vote those who would vote no out. And their stance on open carry as distasteful as it is, isn't going to convince the average joe to vote them out. Instead, we need to elect liberty minded individuals. At the same time we need to bring to light other distasteful votes that those who voted against open carry made. Votes that would make them very unpopular not just with gun owners, but the average joe.

Nobody is going to vote to let people who call or write to threaten them carry a gun.

Please express disappointment that a legislator voted against open carry and take the opportunity to educate them, politely, on the common since aspects of open carry that will change their mind.

Ask legislators to help with our cause, do not demand that they do what you want "or else".

Those legislators who do not come around to supporting us will have to contend with Florida Carry working extremely hard to elect more RKBA friendly Senators and Reps at election time. They already know that.

Don't like begging, pleading, paying, educating and general ass kissing for your rights?

You could do what's been known to work in the past, get a Harley and join up with others who own Harley's then together visit your "representatives".

I don't know what the connection is (can't figure it out for the life of me) but it seems representatives suddenly remember your rights when they see and hear Harley's.

    haha

cause harleys in a weird sence represent a sence a pure american freedom.

Their loud while everything else is trying to be quiet

their open and free ... people that dont care to be protected by a cage or held back

and also people who ride usually arn't the type of people you want to mess with... they have ideas and feelings that they feel extremely strong about.

and stereotypically ... they are more liklely to voice their opinion

Don't know who Doc or ABATE is but I suggest he step up his education as it would seem...it hasn't worked.

Maybe our dear makers of law need to enter his advanced classes?

He could always get a Harley ; )

This is taken from the Biker's most recent legislative alert.

When contacting the Representatives, here's an example of what to say; “My name is ______, I am a member of
ABATE of Florida, the state's largest motorcyclists' rights organization. I am calling to ask for Rep. ____ help with HB
    403. It is scheduled to go to the House Transportation and Highway Safety Subcommittee, however, we are having
trouble getting it placed onto the Subcommittee's agenda. I was hoping that since Rep. _____ is a member of that
committee they could help us get it heard. Thank you very much.”
Bikers showing up at the capitol is exactly the same type of thing we will be doing with our lobby day. Instead of Harleys, we will have empty holsters.

Doc is one of the most effective lobbyist in the country. He is president of ABATE of Florida. (American Bikers Aimed Towards Education). The guys on the harleys you are talking about.

sign me up. I'll try to get others to come. The makeup of the senate isn't changing next year and rumor is Evers doesn't even care about doing it. If we can't OC next year, I don't want it to be for lack of effort. Should be very effective.

I don't "need" to openly carry a handgun or own an "assault weapon" any more than Rosa Parks needed a seat on the bus.

Ah ok, I thought he was someone working for our cause.

You have to admit there's a certain element of intimidation when bikers show up en masse'.

Well, I open carry but I don't have a Harley (or any bike for that matter). So I guess I'll have to either ride bitch or put side pipes on the Buick.
