San Genaro Feast - No firearms

Well that is at least what the guy told me that came storming out of the ticket booth and proceeded to call two Metro officers over (Not sure what he thought they would do?) and told me that no firearms are allowed because it is a gaming property. :uhoh: This was his only explanation. I found it particularly funny that not more than a few hundred feet was Bass Pro Shops whom is OC friendly and sells tons of items including, but not limited to, firearms, archery, knives, etc.

Well, I must admit, I am still new to OC. I'm a younger looking guy and I can already feel the eyeballs piercing me the few places I have gone. I thought a nice outdoor feast would be fine to have my firearm with me, but I guess not.

I did not want to cause a scene or start a debate. I put my firearm in my truck and went back to enjoy a nice sausage sandwich and helped my sister and my nephew have fun on the rides while I watched their stuff. :)

Oh...and this is my first post. Hi!

A search here will reveal that the fest is not OC friendly. Glad you had a good time. And helped them make some cash for the boys in Rome. Since you capitulated to the ticket guy, you should have asked him to point to the NRS about guns and gaming property. Oh hang on a second there isnt one. As it was pvt property though they can make rules. Doesnt mean they have to make money off you though.
I wont give a plug nickel to any biz who doesnt want me. It has helped me save alot of money actually.

There is no law saying firearms on gaming property or in casinos is illegal. The statement “this is a gaming property” is proof the guy was implementing his own incorrect understanding of gun laws or to suit his own agenda. If he is an employee of the property (doubt he was and more than likely a worker for the festival) all he can say is this is private property and we do not allow firearms if that in fact is their policy. In that cased time to lock it up. For me most of the time I leave or if I really want to stay, I will conceal it. I too try not to spend any of my money if not wanted. If one was not to leave with the gun, their next step is to warn you of being tresspassed. If one refuses to leave after the warning then they can get the law involved and do a formal tresspass which would have nothing to do with the gun just refusal to leave.

Did you notice if they have metal detectors? I was going to carry concealed.

Hard mode: Does anyone know if "wands" are considered a metal detector if someone is holding one at each entrance?

The legality of passing through a metal detector with a firearm only applies to publicly owned buildings. You cannot be charged with a crime for attempting to pass through a metal detector on private property. again you can only be asked to leave and charged with trespassing if your are not.
