The first rule of open carry is to know where you can and can not carry. No it is not illegal to carry a firearm in casinos or malls, however you must comply with the wishes of private property owners. If they do not permit firearms on their premises, they may ask you to leave. If you refuse to leave, the worst that could happen is a trespassing charge.

The second rule of open carry is; don't ask, don't tell. Don't ask them if it is okay, don't tell them you are going to do it. Just do it, and let them be the ones to tell you they don't allow it. If you ask first, they are just going to say they don't allow it because, lets face it, most sheaple assume it's not allowed unless you wear a badge.

When open carrying, be on your best behavior. it's harder to kick a person out of your establishment who is acting like a lady or gentleman. Dress nice, if you look like a thug with a gun your gonna get treated like one. If you look like someone who cares about their appearance, you will be judged differently than someone who does not.

I'm not saying you have to dress like you are going to church, but just think about the little details. Speak to people they way you want to be spoken too and be a model citizen. It's hard to be scared of a gentlemen who holds the door open for you and says hello with a smile.

    I agree with Nevada Carrier.

Plus, a reason you don't ask ahead of time is that they may not have a policy before you ask. They may never have even thought about open carry before. So they decide to create a policy on the spot.

You call and ask the manager, "Is it okay to carry guns in your store?" The manager, bewildered that such a question is asked, thinks to himself... hmm, have customers carried guns in our store before? I don't remember that ever happening... so what's the harm in banning it? And what if it causes the customers to panic? Or what if it causes a lawsuit when some guy comes in and has a negligent discharge and it turns out we had a policy allowing for it to happen by allowing guns? I guess we should have a no guns policy. And then he tells you, "Sorry sir, we don't allow guns here."

But the same manager, if you didn't call him, might see you in the store, notice your gun, and not think anything of it, especially when he sees that you are the type of respectable gentleman he wants around, like the guy that Nevada Carrier describes.

I don't really have much to add to what Nevada Carrier said, as he is totally on point with everything.

Also, we share the same name.

Bottom line, go about your business. If they don't want your business, let them tell you. You received some good advice here.

By the way Nevada Carrier, you have given yourself away. Obviously you have not been to church lately because the way some of them dress these days scares me even if they don't have a gun. Of course the bulge at the Pastors ankle gives away what he's a packin'.

I haven't been to church in over 20 years, mostly because the deities I worship are Sam Colt and John Moses Browning! Yes, god created man, but John and Sam made them equal.

I would add that it's one thing to have a policy, another to ENFORCE it. If you're not creating a problem and not in a Costco, the business may ignore the OC completely, especially once carrying is "natural" to you.
