Boehner/Reid Undermine You on Patriot Act
The latest rumbling from insiders on Capital Hill is that a vote in the Senate is to happen as soon as Monday on at least a four year extension of the Patriot Act. Why should you care? Roving warrantless wiretaps, secret federal searches, blanket warrants for search and seizure of library records, expanding meaning of "domestic terrorist," asset seizures of "suspected terrorists." Sounds fine right? How many times in recent years have you heard government and federal law enforcement equate gun owners and people concerned with the US Constitution to terrorists? If your answer is none, then you have not been listening very closely.
Are you ever in luck! It seems that rather than letting this abridgement of your liberties expire, US House Speaker John Boehner and anti-gun Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid are working out an extension of the Patriot Act.
Are you going to sit by and let this pass without making your voice heard? Why would you do that? Gun owners and others concerned with liberty in North Carolina (and around the good old US of A) must not sit idly by while our federally-elected Republicans in concert with Democrats crush our civil liberties and continue to further erode our privacy.
Take the actions prescribed below. If you don't do it, who will? After all, if you don't care that much about your freedom, why should anyone else.

Dear Senator:
I am profoundly opposed to any extension of the so-called Patriot Act. I understand that a deal is being cooked up to extend this abridgement of our Constitution. While terrorism is a real concern, the well being of the U.S. Constitution and the liberties of Americans is a bigger one. It is not necessary to destroy the underpinnings of our freedom in order to protect us. In fact it is counter to everything we stand for. In short, by passing this, you will have let the true terrorists win.
Please use all your power and influence to stop this unnecessary demolition of our freedoms.
