I say we have to be careful with those kinds of petitions. They may be trying to keep us from getting constitutional carry, campus carry etc... As in no new law that would allow these things. I seem to recall these folks have been at several of the DMVs and someone on here did some research and they did not have our interest at heart.

Good point. I "think" they were okay. I didn't go into it in the last post, but their petition said they were about "...no new gun laws...", "...respect the right to keep and bear arms for ALL citizens as our founding fathers believed...", "...in order to keep the power to the people...", "...in a free society..." and so on.

HOWEVER, please do post anything you all find to the contrary about these folks.

Yeah it's interesting that out of all my friends over there, only one or two seem to be anti-gun. Seems everyone else I know would love to be able to carry. Also interesting that the UK is essentially a two party system like it is here (both sides of the same coin) but that the UKIP party has gained a lot of ground lately. I think a lot of people will only vote for one of the two major parties because they feel if they voted on someone else it would be a wasted vote. However, because UKIP has gained a lot of ground, I think a lot more people would vote for them. Incidentally, UKIP has said they want to give Brits the right to bear arms back. Hopefully, people are beginning to wake up to the fact (both here and there) that the two main parties are essentially two segments of the same platform.

On another note...received the new holster I ordered and only about 70 days till I get to Nevada...can't wait!!!!!

The UK is pretty much a three party system with UKIP gaining rapidly. The (pseudo) Conservative Party, Labour which is leaning more and more left trying to stand out and the Lib Dems which are pretty far left and scarily pro-EU but at least they've not gotten into bed with the Unions as Labour have with UNITE who I consider to be bullies, blackmailers and pretty much a criminal organisation based on their tactics.

Courthouse, Silverton Casino, Bass Pro Shops

I was in the courthouse yesterday and asked them before going through the metal detectors if they had any firearm lockers, and they said they did not. I'd have preferred to check the Beretta in there rather than leave it in the car.

Hit Silverton Casino last night for a comp meal and didn't try to OC in though we probably should have, but after leaving we hit the Bass Pro Shops attached to the Silverton (Blue Diamond and I-15) and I was pleased at not only their OC reception but also their friendly and helpful staff at their gun counter. Great variety of firearms and lots of ammo on open shelves to freely examine. I wanted to check out a Glock 20/29 and they had the 29 in stock. They also have an indoor range right there behind the gun counter!

I had no idea they had such a large gun section over there! I'll head back often since it's nearby. Check it out if you haven't already been in, pretty impressive and a great place to take your out-of-town friends when they're visiting.

Silverton Hotel is officially anti-carry; we even moved an NRA grassroots organizer that was originally scheduled there a couple years ago. But BPS is good to go.

Last I heard a while ago, they were checking blue cards to shoot on the range there. I wonder if that is still true.

I'll ask them the next time I'm over. I wasn't even aware it was a public range but assumed it was there to test the guns they sell. I didn't ask, just noted it while checking out other things.

Since we live on the south end of town we head over to Fallon to shoot free of charge. Six miles south of the M casino on LV Blvd, easy to find for those who may want to head out.

If you tell them you are going to the range they will want the firearm to be unloaded and in a case before you enter their facility. Also if BassPro has a firearm you want and not on sale the rule of thumb is you can buy it at any other gun shop for $100 less.

Yup, and you can get it online at some place like Bud's for less, get free shipping, and no sales tax. Only have to pay the transfer fee to your dealer. Mine charges $14.00.

Great exchange of info!

Oc'd to the Vaccine Center on N. Rainbow yesterday. Lots of looks in the waiting room but no issues from the staff. So after the doctor discussed my upcoming visit and giving me the info regarding the immunizations I should get, she then asks me if I was a police officer or was I carrying for personal reasons. After I told her that I wasn't an "officer" and I carry for personal reasons she then tells me her frightening event that happened to her outside the clinic.

Here's a short version: She was leaving the clinic at night and as she got into her car a crazy woman starting beating on her window. So she calls 911 and was put on hold. She was able to reverse her car and leave but was told by dispatch to return because Metro has arrived on scene.

She then starts asking questions in which I gave her the "Open Carry info card" (made by Garande Guy) and a card of a very well liked firearms instructor.

I may have mentioned this before...

My uncle is a doctor in KY for like 44 years now and he is adamant about always having his 38 in his pocket. He said it can be scary as you're in an exam room, just you and the patient. There's no telling what could / would happen behind closed doors. And that he's never "had" to pull it, but a few times with someone high on "something" he thought he may have to.

He doesn't oc, but in Eastern KY you can bet just about everybody has a gun with them somewhere. Oh, and he's also a deputy sheriff. It's really just on paper so he could enjoy the "benefits of membership".

OC and CC United!

In other news, I OCed to Burger King located at 2180 E Serene Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89123 two days ago. As I entered, a gentleman who was standing at the cash register gave me the "evil eye." He immediately stopped making his order and hurried over to where his wife was sitting and they began to "chat" about what they were seeing.

As there was no one else in line, I proceeded to the register to make my order. While doing so, another gentleman was standing off to my left waiting for his order. He smiled and said that he had to ask what job I did since I was packing "serious heat." I told him that I was simply a coach operator. He said that my gun was nice and that it was good to see someone carrying.

While this conversation was taking place, another gentleman who had just walked into the establishment noticed my gun and interrupted by saying that "every American citizen should be armed and carry at all times." Furthermore, he said "it's true that an armed society is a polite society." And then he shook my hand! :-D

Man this made me feel great!! To the dismay of the two patrons that were disgusted with me and my carry, everyone else including the staff were pro-2nd amendment! In fact, the later gentleman who shook my hand held a CCW from Florida (he was a CCer carrying at that time).

That's right! OC and CC UNITED!! And how glorious it was! I had the opportunity to answer some OC questions and, I still can't believe it, the shift manager was able to guess my gun! He said he's a BIG Glock fan. Lol!

Las Vegas of Southern Nevada Open Carry

Alright crew! I have an update to the monthly meet up provided by the Las Vegas of Southern Nevada Open Carry today. I contacted Rollin Smoke Barbeque to reserve the Party Pit room for us (as suggested by a number of members here).
I have reserved the room, HOWEVER, everyone that will be attending MUST have an additional $10.00 to pay for the room. In other words, it will have to be $10 per adult.
Thank you everyone. And don't forget, the meet ups are at gun friendly locations so be sure to invite your friends (don't forget to tell them of the $10 per adult).

If he was a resident, I hope he also had a NV CCW permit. If he was a visitor, I hope he also had a permit from a state we recognize.

NV residents can only conceal with a NV permit. And we don't recognize FL permits, no matter where you are from.

I had a fun weekend. My girlfriend and I went camping in Great Basin national park. We stayed at the Nevada Hotel one night, camped another, toured Lehman Cave, went to cave lake, saw Wheeler Peak, and got pulled over by a cop for speeding but got off with a warning. I open carried for most of it, except for the parts where I legally could not. Absolutely no issues.

I'd be interested to know where you went that you legally couldn't OC. You can OC darn near anywhere in NV.

My guess would be while he toured Lehman Caves, which is probably considered a federal facility because it is locked and a guided tour, and any other federal facilities he might have been in while in the National Park.

Bingo. Since it is a cave I guess one could argue that it isn't a facility, but I didn't want to push it. And also where I got piss drunk playing black jack at hotel nevada lmao!

I do believe Sharpshootur is once again updating this. When it was suggested to get the room no one realized there would be a charge for the room. Meet up still on for the same place same time just not in their rented room.

An American cave is just a cave. An American cave controlled by the federal government is a federal facility.

Now if you're in Afghanistan, a cave is a good place to go if you want to get bombed.

I really don't get why a business would charge for a group to use their meeting room when it would be expected that the occupants would be consuming their product and not taking up tables in their regular seating area. Most groups would go somewhere else rather than comply and that would serve nothing but to lose a lot of business that they would have otherwise had.

Just saying. I myself would prefer to be in a separate area in which we could meet and mix without disrupting the rest of the room. I'm looking forward to one of these events.

A cave is a structure - note there is no requirment that the structure be man made.

A federal facility is a structure where federal employees normally work. Required signage must be evident.

All conditions would seem to have been satisfied.
