The contract postal units found in many stores are not postal property.

The penalty for having a gun on postal property, (including the parking lot), I believe is like a $25 fine and up to 3 months in jail.

$50 and up to 30 days in jail. Good luck finding US Attorney to go after that one! :D

For the much more serious Federal Misdemeanor under 18 USC 930... It generally requires that it be a Federal Facility...which the post office the grocery store/local strip mall is probably not.

"(1) The term “Federal facility” means a building or part thereof owned or leased by the Federal Government, where Federal employees are regularly present for the purpose of performing their official duties. "

You're most likely right about the US Attorney not wanting to spend much time on it. The problem is they would most likely force you to plea bargain and then you might end up on the no gun and no fly list thanks to HLS.

My family belongs to a food coop and we were picking up our weekly produce baskets at the park next to Central Christian Church off Russell. I was approached by one of the volunteer workers. He thanked me for being armed. This really reminded me that I need to carry a pamphlet about open carry for such occasions.

@ Big Guy: I'm always baffled why my carrying a firearm on my hip opens the door for someone to make an idiotic conversation with me. I normally have no real interactions with anyone when I don't OC, but as soon as I OC I know I'm almost guaranteed to have one person talk to me or ask me a question. Not always super positive, but I've never really had a negative experience.

People fear what they don't understand. It's possible that some will engage a conversation as a way of checking things out. They don't know what to say, so they come up with whatever comes in their heads. The more people realize that there is nothing to fear, the better.

I OC'd today in The Golden Nugget on Freemont street in Las Vegas.

This is good news, glad they did not run you out however surprise they did not. A few questions how noticeable is you firearm in your open carry mode? Do you believe any of the employees noticed it? How long were in the Nugget. One day I may want to give the Nugget a OC try.

I just moved to Battle Mountain two days ago, and on the trip I had a flat around Henderson, I got my tire fixed and only comment I got was to fined out the caliber. Sense I've been in Battle Mountain I've went in the Owl Club to eat, Wells Fargo to change account from AZ. to NV., where as I was talking to the bank president, the Lander County Sheriff came in to do some banking also, not even a word, the chamber of commerce, where I met with a businessman about buying a large piece of land, the grocery store, and the post office to get a PO box and change my address, when me and my wife were walking in, there was a NV. highway patrol in the parking lot, no sign on door, and officer said nothing, I know he seen my firearm. I told PO employees we walked up here and asked if it was a problem, she said " no, this is cowboy country and we do things different," I've not seen a no gun sign anywhere, and not a word about my firearm.

Just in case you did not know, you violated a Federal regulation:

39 CFR (Code of Federal Regulations) 232.1:
http://ecfr.gpoaccess.gov/cgi/t/tex...v8&view=text&node=39:1.0.1.4.21.0.1.1&idno=39

Is it really worth a Federal court conviction, fine and 30 days in a Federal penitentiary if someone does decide to care about enforcing the law?

I do understand what you are saying, but the Sheriff is the highest law in the county and Highway Patrol is a close second, and I talked to both today, and they said as long as I'm not violating someones rights with my firearm they will not get involved. I went in the Post Office again today to show ID that I didn't have with me yesterday, since we walked down there I was armed again, there was a rancher at the counter and he also was open carrying. I did my business with the Post Master, and I know she seen both our weapons.

My point is, just like the GFSZ, state, county, and local LE. don't have an obligation to enforce federal laws, and unless there is a federal officer from the Left Coast, Chicago, New York, etc...etc... there at the time, I just don't see who would care.

Today I had breakfast in the casino restaurant, I sat at the counter and the man next to me was also carrying, it was a 1911 45 APC, there was a local crazy man that has one leg that came in and caused a stank, the man next to me and security from the casino ran him out, the man called the Sheriff, they asked him if he was waring his gun, and he said yes, they said OK, and it is not smart to piss off a man with a gun, the Sheriff came, took the crazy man, and not a word to the guy next to me.

I also carried in McDonald's, the dollar store, and another grocery store, there was another rancher there that was open carrying. I've seen more people carrying in the four days I've been here, then I've seen in the 20 months I was in Lake Havasu, AZ. I love it here.

Good to see the commie influence is still out of rural Nevada. The only time I have spent in any of the rural NV towns was during several hunting seasons. I opened carried a 44mag 7.5in barrel with a scope on my hip as a second hunting firearm, never a problem OCing it. No real surprise it was the season for deer hunters. One thing about harvesting a 200-pound animal, one gets a firsthand look at the damage a large caliber handgun or high power rifle round does.
Did ride to the Dam to check out and walk across the new bridge today. Because of the information DON`T TREAD ON ME‎ shared I did visit the bridge with an empty holster leaving the firearm locked up in the bike. On the way down the checkpoint guard stopped me. He says ride safe and waved me on. My large level 3 retention holster and firearm is on that side between him and I, nothing was said. Checking the mirror and listening for an indication to come back. Not seeing or hearing any rode to the bridge parking and locked up the firearm shortly after I got off the bike. Got a lot of looks at the empty holster however no remarks. Some areas were crowed and a tight fit walking past people, all were very polite.
Open carried while riding in Boulder City. Checking some old stomping grounds as 4 of my teenage years was in Boulder City. Was in a few Las Vegas Gas stations no problems.
May be we should consider and open carry motorcycle ride if there is enough with motorcycles.

Interesting day of open carrying today. While getting ready to leave the Pahrump Home-Depot a guy walked up to me and asked what year my bike was. I told him he said I ride a such and such. Then he said what caliber are you carrying I told him. He said I have a 45 at home. Conversation turned back to the motorcycles did not get a chance to ask him why his 45 was at home.
Later at Smiths once again getting ready to leave a biker walked up to me and said ride safe, I said you bet thanks, you do the same and noticed he too was carrying. I said good to see you carrying. He said he does not leave home without it. More small talk then as he walked away I noticed he had a 10” pig sticker on the other hip.

Was in the Pahrump Smiths today. A person in line behind me noticed I had a southpaw-holstered firearm asked if I knew a good place to shop for a left-handed holster. After a short conversation on holsters, he said in Las Vegas, he carries concealed and would never carry open. Afraid of possible reactions. I told him I carry all the time in Vegas and so do many others. Told him about OC.org.
The clerk behind the Pharmacy counter heard part of our conversation said you need to be careful carrying in here, my husband was in Smiths and someone call the cops on him. I said wow I am in here all the time for the past two years carrying and never had an issue. She said well my husband is a biker with the leather, tattoos, and long beard.
First impression on the person carrying a legal firearm does appear to be a major factor if the person with the firearm is going to be confronted.

I did the roofs on the two new shopping cart corrals out in the front. I think I know exactly who you are talking about. If I'm right she likes the blue/green eye shadow and he does have the outlaw biker look and carry's a 1911. I asked him what it was but I forgot. His Harley was pretty nice too.

I'll tell you one thing. If you like to people watch, Parhump is the place to go. Smith's was pretty entertaining. I could just imagine what Wal-Marx has to offer. :uhoh:

According to the web sight, this was taken in Nevada. :shocker:

I guess I should have highlighted my last couple of experiences.

Last Sunday I took my oldest out shooting with a couple of my friends. On the way home we had to stop at Petco on Blue Diamond to get some stuff for his newly acquired gecko. I should add the that we where both OC'ing. When we where at the register paying. A women behind my son and asked if that was a real gun. His response "Why yes, it's a XDm40......" Her "What?" She didn't have a clue as to what he just said..lol. She was a little surprised that we where carry the way we where.

Then just this last Friday I took my youngest son to the DMV in Henderson. I think security may have seen my sidearm but I'm not sure. If he did he didn't say anything. While at the window after our number was called I seen a woman with a badge with a circle and a five pointed star(Marshal I think) on her belt walking past towards the exit. I gave her a nod which she returned. Now I know she seen me when I walked in because I was strong side as I walked past everyone on my way to find a seat. Now I don't know if it mattered or not. I was wearing a GOA shirt with "It's a right, not a privileged." across the back. :D
