I can't remember the last time I carried more than 9 rounds.

Plan A is still hauling ass.
Plan B is still only two rounds and hauling ass.

Of course, this is different anyway. When I was on the last Fremont Street walk, I had the .45 Vaquero and a cartridge belt as well. Silvertip'd .45 Colts in leather tend to stand out.

I used a SIRT Glock in a video scenario simulation with one adversary and when he put his hand on his gun I fired eight shots into him as he fell until he removed his hand.

So if the Reavers were behind me, I'd still one round left! See!

Why do people try to start an argument with the armed person that they feel is intimidating?
Scratch that, I see now she said she was intimidated by the inanimate object, not by you. Never mind.

How far away did she move to feel safe from a firearm in the room?

I'd say about 10 -15 feet away.

Must have been from NYC. Assumed if the cops can't hit anything more than 10 feet away, you couldn't either. :)

No problem! I think you and craftymommy are probably our most visible and effective advocates, simply because people have this notion that it's not lady like. I think when men carry, it's seen as expected, while when women do it, other women seem to judge. Just an interesting observation. Hopefully this too will change one day soon.

The more we make it part of our daily lives, the better off we will be. The more women that start taking their safety into their own hands the better. I remember a story from a long time ago with my great grandma. She was leaving the store and someone tried to take her purse. Well she walked with a cane so she beat the guy up until he ran off. I guess he wasn't expecting that from an old lady! Now that I am in a state where I can actually have a real form of protection you can bet I will take advantage of that especially with my kids around.

Aside from the one incident at La Bonita, I have yet to have a negative encounter or one where I have to defend my rights so to speak. I had a good conversation with a young employee at Vons who couldn't wait to OC, security guard at my bank who wishes more women take the right to defend themselves into their own hands, and just general questions because people are not aware it is legal.

Now for a recent OC story from me.

I was at Vons last night grabbing a few things with my younger son(age 2). I was getting him buckled and I saw a young male walking around the parking lot, to me it was suspicious as he was looking at all the cars and just wandering with no real purpose. So when he started getting closer to my car I turned just enough to make sure my firearm was more visible and he went past me after coming close to the rear of my car and about 5 cars down before going across. Coincidence or not, I don't know, but all the same I felt better knowing that I am able to protect myself if the need arises. As I was pulling out, I saw him approach a car where a woman was getting out but I don't know what happened as it was out of my sight by then.

A lot of times, people pull the trigger until the threat is down. Or their weapon is empty.

I actually have something of interest to report. I went to the DMV on Flamingo this afternoon around 1:00 to get plates for my car...and only waited 13 minutes!!! I know what you're thinking, but it's true! And of course no problems with my OC. I ran over to my vapor shop again today and ran into that OCer again, gave him the website again so hopefully we'll see him around here.

Same for me first is avoiding, the running however with bad knees my running and walking looks a lot alike. Then control pair. After several trips to Front Sight I believe I have a good chance with the control pair.

Statistically most gun fights are over after 3 rounds fired. Ok you are the instructor and probably have the real numbers this is just what I have read. However I have read several stories where a bad guy had one more bullet than the person trying to defend themselves and I have not read one story of anyone saying after a gun fight damn I wish I had not brought all that ammo.

I carried at downtown Reno tonight to watch the cars parade for Hot August Nights. Tons of LEO's and none said a word. I did try to go into the Little Nugget to get an Awful Awful, and was approached by security. He told me that weapons were not allowed in the casino. I asked him if this was company policy and he informed me that you can't carry in any of the casinos here. I kept asking him if it was company policy and he finally told me the law says you can't carry in the casinos. I politely told him it wasn't the law and he said it was company policy. I said "Ok, thank you." and left the building.

My wife works at a casino in town (LV) and not wanting to get her in trouble I called ahead and asked for their firearms policy before going to have lunch with her at work. I was told the same misinformation about laws until I took it up the ladder all the way to the manager over security. He knew it wasn't law, but rather company policy. Same exact thing happened when I asked the Santa Fe Station Casino and BigDog's Drafthouse.

Point being, security guards (much like cops) don't get paid to know the law. They get paid to "keep the piece", read as make sure you do what you are told. It's more appropriate to call them piece keepers or policy enforcement as opposed to "law enforcement".

As many of you know I'm the offspring of an ex-leo, long time deceased. Dad was a cop in Detroit and LA and used to say that if you ever want to know the law "never ask a cop, they don't know $h*t". Come to think of it, he also used to say that cops are the worst shots and he can't believe that he was getting paid to beat people up. What can I say, he was a cop of the 70s. He had no misconceptions (unlike his son) that it is most definitely a dog eat dog world.

Zero issues at SmashBurger by the university for a late lunch even though the manager had to bring me my beer personally because the cashier was underage. I was with a friend from CA from the M14 forum. He might start packing here on his next trip, too.

Had the opportunity to revisit my nemesis...The rental car place on Gilespie. For those that don't know the first time I OC'd there I was asked to leave my firearm in the car in which I caved and complied. But this visit I carried in with no problem while passing 5 security personnel. Lots of looks but not approached.
