Re: Where did you carry today and how did it go?

Wow, I don't think they could fit any more misinformation into one contact.

Registered a handgun at the Henderson substation yesterday...

After finishing up he says "congratulations" and says that I need to keep that blue card on me at "all times" and that it is not a CCW, though I can legally carry the gun in its case - but not in NLV because they are different and the ammo and gun have to be kept entirely separate, and actually just don't go to NLV.

Thought that was interesting...and just smiled, said thank you and left...

This is the perfect opportunity to send a letter asking for clarification from his supervisor. You got his name, right? Respectfully ask the supervisor (IN WRITING) if the information is correct because you were under the impression that blah, blah, blah, blah. Get his answer to you IN WRITING.

Thank you!

Where did you carry today and how did it go?

Hopped on the bike and drove down to Home Depot on Sunset and Marks. No prob...passed by a few employees on my search...of course none of them offered help but that is par for course at that store. I much prefer the service and selection at Lowes, who also had no problem when is was in there the other day....

Anyone carry at Bass Pro recently?

They SAY that if we being a gun in we have to lock-box it and carry it that way in the store... The GM knows different...

That's what I was wondering about...I have been in there not ocing before and saw the boxes at the little desk and I seem to recall reading something about "checking" guns. Seems stupid and confrontational. Why not just let it be if you are truly pro gun?

Huh? They want me to needlessly handle my loaded firearm? I'm not going to ask for a GM. I'm just not going to go there.

Sportsman's Warehouse welcomes holstered firearms, concealed or not. Of course, they are on opposite sides of town from one another, but the latter also has much better prices. I just drove all the way out there yesterday to buy a box of Hornady 150-gr FMJ bullets because I procrastinated as usual and needed to stay up until 2AM to make .30-06 ammo for the Garand for this morning's ViMSAR match.

I have a few motorcycles put 5000 to 10000 miles on them a year, however never drove them. Just a little friendly jab. Many have OCed in BassPro. I have been in there OCing many times; never a problem and the workers never have an issue asking if I need any help. It is my understanding they must be empty gun sign (however it is worded) is only for those who are planning to carry their gun in and use their expensive indoor range.

Yes, Bass Pro was dealt with some time ago, and their corp policy is friendly. It doesn't make it down to the underlings reliably. Just advise that it will stay holstered, and direct the employee to inquire of the gm if they have any questions.

A somewhat uneventful day at the DMV on Sahara. I walked in and got my number, went to the little store to get a drink but found nothing to my liking, so I sat down. It was SUPER busy so I wanted to sit down quickly anyway. After a few minutes of sitting I was playing on my phone and got a hard tap on the shoulder and heard "Hey I thought that was you!" I turned to my weak side to see one of my friends through the VW community! Except he was working. As security. I stayed seated and chatted with him for a minute about my newish car that I was registering and stuff. After a few minutes he says "Hey, it's visible right?" obviously asking about my firearm that he couldn't see since I was sitting down. I said "Absolutely" and he said "Alright cool, just as long as your shirt isn't covering it or anything." After we chatted for a few more minutes, I asked him if anyone had said anything. He said that a couple people had, but he told them that as long as it's visible then it's legal. it's good to see that security is up to date on the laws and if he hadn't known me personally nothing would have been said to me about it. It was handled by telling concerned patrons that I was not breaking the law, and by not bothering me about it.

@Drkdestroyer

I have to admit you made off better than me. I've a pretty average built white guy that looks like a Cop to most people cause of my military haircut. Anyways a few years ago before i deployed and sold my guns (getting another soon so i can join the OC community again), I was just off work one day and stopped at the house. Turns out i needed to pick some stuff up from Wal-Mart so I strap my XD .45 to my right hip and head on out. When I got to Wal-mart I had pretty much the same reception as you. The greeter noticed me that instant I walk in. He just looked and stayed quiet. I spent about 45 minutes inside shopping and picking up stuff as I went. Couple odd looks and that was it. Then I go to check out and stand in the longest line cause I needed smokes. Right as the cashier was about to start ringing me up, a manager came over and pulled me from line and started drilling me. Asking if I was a cop, Is that a real gun, etc. etc. After a couple minutes she dropped it and just let me on my way. But it was very irritating because she publicly made a deal out of it. Before she appeared only the person behind me commented (which was mostly cause her daughter pointed it out and she was telling the child not to worry). After she showed up everyone in line was eyeing me weird and mumbling.

So count your blessing it was that smooth. If we're talking about the same Wal-mart in N. Las Vegas across from Nellis.

You're lucky you didn't get a gun in your face there. I'm stationed at Nellis and the base commander told us not to visit that one because there's been tons of people that have had issues there. Head on down to the one on Craig. They're friendly there and the wife and I have had no issues whatsoever with management or employees there.

upcoming trip

I am driving to Vegas. I will be staying @ green valley ranch, if I check in while OCing and they don't like it will they ask me to put it away or will they cancel my reservation? I don't want to lose my room, but would like to exercise my right. If I posted this in the wrong place I am sorry.

Henderson DMV. No problem parking, didn't see a sign on the door, no line, right to the info desk, no OC problems, conducted my business and out. How can you beat that for a trip to the DMV?

TBG

The open-carry part I buy... but you honestly expect me to believe ANYTHING got done at the DMV with no hassle? lol

Not surprised by that. I live on the opposite side of town now, so i don't go there anymore.

I worked at a MGM Grand for security for a year and a half. I found most casino's are pretty much the same when it comes to guns. If anyone says something to you along those lines, request to speak to the Security Manager. When someone was carrying we just asked them to please store their gun in our safe until they leave the property. That's just an option though. They could ask u to just leave it in the safe in your room too. But i doubt they'd ever cancel you reservation, unless you act like a madman.
