    Open carry in Lacey-Olympia

Last Sunday my wife and I took our family to breakfast at Shari's on College St off of exit 109. We both open carry almost everywhere. When we entered the restaurant we were greeted with wary smiles but still escorted to a booth and the waitress took our order. We were approached numerous times by the waitresses asking if we were cops or such and we stated no and explained open carry to them they said ok and went about their business. Upon leaving a waitress pulled us aside and said that a man had complained about us open carrying in the restaurant and he wanted to talk to the manager. The manager spoke with the man who informed him that he was a former law enforcement officer and that he would never come back since they allowed us to open carry there and he would tell all his cop friends if we were not asked to leave. The manager politely informed the FORMER LEO that he open carried when he was not at work at that he fully supported us carrying in his restaurant and he would more than gladly show him the door if he was frightened and offended by us carrying in his presence

I left a 25% tip for our waitress and thanked the manager

This last friday the 20th of may my wife and I were having our house packed since we have been reassigned to Fort Sill, OK for 2 years. My wife offered to go to subway to get the movers lunch. She went to the SUBWAY on yelm highway near college street and placed the order, when thaey had almost completed making her order two mid 20's males entered the SUBWAY and started making comments about her carrying openly and started telling her its illegal to carry open, bet she doesn't even know how to use it, why do you have to carry?, asked if she was a cop or something and when her order was done they decided to state they would not eat at that SUBWAY again since they allowed guns in the restaurant, The cachier promptly stated "she just ordered 8 sandwich's 12 drinks so I think we can lose your business and still be good". She then gave my wife a tray of cookies free of charge

If you voted for Obama to prove you are not a racist...
what will you do now to prove you are not stupid?

Hey Risers, thumbs up and keep in touch with an old retired 14S. Also your WA CPL is honored in OK, unfortunately no OC.

Sometimes they are called more colorful names when you've been waiting to be served or want a coffee refill and have been waiting over 30 minutes. There is usually an adjective beginning with the letter "F" added when asking where the Waitress or Serviceperson is.

I thought the same thing GoGo, it reads a little too scripted for my taste, but it might just be me.

Losses, more than one too. I was making a joke, normally it would be a chance for gossip amongst women workers, only one would have to ask for the entire staff to know whats going on.

    Thanks for your service!

Wow. Fort Sill... Good thing they turned it into a gigantic artillery target and have been trying to destroy it since 1869. They might have made people live there. That would have been a real shame.

13N training in 1987. Hot, dusty, chigger infested, tornado plagued hellhole. That's my impressions of Sill. Learned alot there about Lance, then just pulled guard for two and a half years in Germany...

Oh well, I got to blow stuff up. I guess that makes up for all the cold nights standing guard. Demolition range...

Being a Marine, they had to run him through twice (or more) to make sure he got it????????

why can't people on this forum just be happy about the experience SSG Riser had while OCing? has far as I'm concerned he "walked the walk". I'm finding that there are certain people here that think to highly of themselves or can't wait to call B.S. on someones experience... If it's true, great and if it's false then shame on him...

It seems, to me, that you are trying to restrict the ability of others to state their opinion while at the same juncture you state yours.
This is an open forum. If something smells to one person and not another, maybe he has a better sense of smell.

Agreed, I'm just stating that I've seen a lot of that on this forum... Not attacking anyone... I just think that people are so quick to judge... Does every encounter that someone goes through while ocing need to be recorded, just so people will believe the person? That's why I find myself not logging on the forum that much anymore. And I know I'll get jumped on for saying what I'm saying...

I can understand you POV. It seems if someone posts they were harassed by civilians and LEO's then most seem to believe 100% and get all worked up about it. However in situations like the OP's it seems like time and time again somebody calls BS. It is most regretable that such a mind state exists in this forum. Though I do agree everyone here is entitled to their own opinions, i find it no less sad that "good" stories are thought staged.

Somone here vouched as to the couple's validity... that should be more then enough to satisfy. Why is it people want miracles but dont believe it when they occur? Hmm sounds ever so vaguely biblical doesnt it? Dont take this as an attack on anyone. As that is not my intention at all. More just voicing my frustrations with disbelief

I've noticed lately that a lot of "encounter" posts have the flavor of someone just wanting to post a "story". Some things ring true and some parts have a fishy aroma.

For me, I've been carrying so long and long ago came to the conclusion that the more I forgot about that gun on my hip, the less others noticed it.

Since the OP hasn't responded I wonder if it wasn't just a "Trollpost".

    just saying

"Since the OP hasn't responded I wonder if it wasn't just a "Trollpost"."

The guy posts his story, and people post that they think it's fake.
So he thinks "what a bunch of turds" and ignores you. He's not defending his story!
I'm not suspicious of that behavior, he doesn't care enough to be here with a cite and get the last word in. (well the tip is kinda high, especially if his family is big)

I think this is just as likely, but really, who cares

(well I did enough to right this) pun intended.

Question Truth? Is there such a thing?

Well, I know what I'm going to do to get to the bottom of this. I'm going to both the Shari's and the SUBWAY, interview all of the staff and get first hand accounts and statements (maybe pictures, too). Then I'm going to retell the story (with my own embellishments) to a Notary Public while I have my right hand on a Bible (King James version). Then I'll post the Notarized version and we'll all be good. ;-)
