Just recieved this e-mail from Rep. Nerison. Woodchuck and I walked parades with him last year when he told us he supports constitutional carry. Looks like a change of heart after the vote. We need to hammer him on his change of positition.

Dear John,
Thank you for taking the time to contact me about concealed carry legislation. After careful review of the issue and speaking with constituents, I have decided to continue my support for concealed carry as a co-sponsor of the Personal Protection Act (PPA).
I support the Personal Protection Act for a number of reasons. First and foremost, I believe it upholds the important right of law-abiding citizens to protect themselves and their families, homes, and businesses against criminals, many of whom already have weapons.
I’m aware that you would like to see a true constitutional carry bill, which is with no permit process, passed. While I understand your viewpoint and would consider supporting constitutional carry in the future, I feel the Personal Protection Act is the right bill for our state at this time. The PPA is a practical piece of legislation that stands a greater chance of becoming law and of being upheld in future legislative sessions. Also, to my knowledge, no state has gone from having no concealed carry laws whatsoever on its books to having right-to-carry with no restrictions
Finally, the PPA brings Wisconsin statutes in line with the vast majority of other states that already have concealed carry. This bill allows permit holders to carry a concealed weapon while traveling across most state lines, something that would not be possible with constitutional carry in place.
I hope this letter helps explain my position on concealed carry and my decision to co-sponsor the Personal Protection Act. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any additional questions or concerns about this or any other issue.
Sincerely,
Lee Nerison
