O.K sorry but this is not so related to open carry, but I am interested in as many opinions as possible.

Is anyone aware of the West Virginia Division of Corrections ability to carry firearms off duty without a CCW? Are they regarded as LEO's or something else, they are armed for prisoner transports and hospital stay and such like, but I was curious to see if they are covered under LEOSA.

I do work for the DOC, but am not firearms qualified, I have asked at work but even the authorities dont seem to have a clear understanding.

Thanks in advance..

The key issue for most people in corrections, is arrest authority. You must have statutory powers of arrest in order to carry under LEOSA.
