I cannot speak for Washington Ceasefire but I do speak for me. You are
not absolved of responsibility for gun deaths by your cloak of "legally
armed responsible citizens".
Here is the responsibility:
"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union,
establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common
defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty
to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution
for the United States of America."
Recognize it?
Note how domestic Tranquility and promoting the general Welfare are on a
par with securing the Blessings of Liberty. With Liberty comes the
responsibility. Guiding that responsibility takes a conscience. You
are not demonstrating the presence of a conscience, thus, no guilt.
Everyone who got shot at Tucson or Columbine or any of the other gun
massacres is your responsibility and my responsibility and the
responsibility of every person under this government. You seem to
consider their deaths to be acceptable collateral damage as long as
you have your right to guns. I consider their deaths to be unacceptable
by any understanding, and am required by my obligations to society
(as you are) to do whatever is lawful to reduce or eliminate the
possibility of recurrance.
You have blood on your hands every time one of these public massacres
happens. You and the hundreds like you who troll these gun control
sites and the millions of "I got mine, the hell with you" people in the
NRA and the gun netherworld beyond it, every death, every maiming is
clearly your fault. That you do not see it that way is why such
slaughters continue. You have the power to slow it down or stop it but
you use or abuse your power to make sure the slaughter continues.
For shame.
