GRNC Alert 6-3-11:
NC House Leadership Needs Show of Support

Rumor has it that Speaker Thom Tillis is under considerable pressure from centrist elements regarding gun bills, specifically that such bills aren't "polling well." Now is the time to deliver a message of support by letting Speaker Tillis and Republican House leadership know that you want 4 things more than anything else: (1) Castle Doctrine; (2) Concealed carry in municipal and state parks; (3) Concealed carry in restaurants; and (4) Guns in locked vehicles for concealed handgun permit-holders.

IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED

* Contact Speaker Thom Tillis - 919-733-3451; Thom.Tillis@ncleg.net
* Contact Majority Leader Skip Stam - 919-733-2962; Paul.Stam@ncleg.net
* Contact your NC House representative: http://www.grnc.org/contact_reps.htm

DELIVER THIS MESSAGE

Dear Speaker Tillis (or Majority Leader Stam, or your rep):

Gun owning voters turned out in record numbers in the 2010 elections because they expect you to reverse the trend toward erosion of Second Amendment liberties. House Bill 650, "Amend Various Gun Laws" is exactly the right instrument to do so, and I strongly urge you to provide the bill a floor vote on Tuesday.

Above all else, gun owners want four things from this session of the General Assembly: Castle Doctrine, the ability of concealed handgun permit-holders to protect their families in state and municipal parks, the ability of concealed handgun permit-holders to protect their families in restaurants, and the ability of employees to keep firearms in locked vehicles.

I respect your courage in scheduling bills such as HB 111 and HB 650 for floor votes. If you finish the job for which we sent you to Raleigh, rest assured I will remember it in 2012. I will be monitoring this issue via Grass Roots North Carolina legislative alerts.

Respectfully,

GRNC tells us we are relying on GOP to fix bad gun law.
Here is fresh info on the back-story and battle lines in this campaign we are in.

""We could be leading the state for the next generation," House Speaker Thom Tillis of Cornelius said..."

"...warned former Charlotte Mayor Pat McCrory, ... "Right now millions of dollars are pouring into our state. Thousands of ACORN-style workers are moving into our state as we speak. They will bring Wisconsin-type political behavior..."

"...Marc Farinella, a Perdue campaign consultant, responded, "Right now Bev Perdue is the only one standing in the way of the Republican legislature's ideological effort..."
