There we wewre, minding our own business, enjoying the beautiful weather after partaking of our usual Saturday breakfast (see http://forum.opencarry.org/forums/s...r-Richmond-Area-OC-Breakfast-Sat-6-4.-9-30-AM) when three cars worth of Henrico County's finest rolled up. Two cars, with one officer with his Tazer out, rolled up for what turned out to be another issue inside. The third officer saw his compatriots heading inside, looked at us as he walked (quickly) past us, and followed them inside.

When it was all over but the paperwork and a free ride, Officer #3 came back past us and stated that he really thought there was no need for him to have been called. A quick exchange of questions and answers revealed that there had been a MMWALOG* call. A few more pleasantries were exchanged and he went on to do police work where it was much more needed.

Peter Nap will be doing his impression of a FOIA request on Monday morning at the latest. We sort of think we know who (not name, but general identity) it might have been that called. The real fun will be finding out exactly what was said about the MMWALOG*.

stay tuned for more exciting information.

stay safe.

FOIA is on it's way and I'm working on the video now.
Did you notice that Officer #1 had a Taser in his hand when he asked if we were waiting for him?

Oh yeah; he was 5 feet away from me. At the time I was wondering if he had considered the wisdom of using a single shot Taser on a group of 7+ guys with guns. Not saying we would have violently reacted... but I'm just sayin'.

Does anyone know if there have been sufficient tests done to insure that a taser will not set off a chambered round?

Corollary: if someone's hand happened to be near their trigger when they "clenched" I wonder what the immediate unintended consequence would be?

While this went better for the OCers than the Manassas, Madison, and the restaurant in PA, one does have to wonder why police were dispatched at all. (sigh)

Was there a false allegation by the caller?

Was this maybe more a medical emergency where someone was hyperventilating? :)

Also, I should like to see whether the caller was anonymous. It can affect the officer's RAS--see Florida vs JL.

Eagerly awaiting the FOIA response, Henrico.

Also, Peter, please double and triple check to make sure Henrico:
1. Gives you everything you asked for
2. Complied with the FOI statute regarding citing the statute exempting any info they withhold while telling you the volume of withheld information.
3. Correctly used the statutes for anything they claimed was exempt.

I'll be sure to triple check Citizen. This comes at a good time since we will be meeting them next week.
While Officer #1 was pleasant enough, I don't like having a Tazer drawn on me for being peaceful. I had mine and I wonder what his reaction would have been if I'd kept it in my hand while he was there.
I cut the resolution and edited it to keep Oc'ers fairly discreet.
It was taken with camera #1, my helmet Gopro sitting on a bench and #2 my Zoom Q3 in my hand.

This is a better look at him drawing his Taser as he started to talk to us.

Could one of yall explain why they were escorting the resturant employee out of the building.
Did they arrest him, and why? " If he was arrested I hope it was because of him calling the cops on yall". ( HaHahAh) Now that would be poetic justice.

Actually, the restaurant is VERY OC friendly. I think the fat fellow in the snazzy shirt smoking a cigarette in the beginning was who called.

As near as I can tell, the employee was late on his child support. Mama-ex came by the other day and saw him with another woman so she asked the Judge to put him in the pokie for not making his support payments on time.

When the cops got the call for that address the computer hit an outstanding warrant employed there....so one cop came out to Tase the animals with guns and two came out to arrest the waiter.

Interesting happenings!

Glad no animals were harmed in the making of this video!

If the tazer had hit someone like Peter Nap or Skid as a result of a ND, I can tell you EXACTLY what the end result would be...

A big fat Federal 1983 suite with a substantial payout...

Hmmmm. One thing the video shows----OCers gotta lose some weight. :)

Hey! I wonder if that's why we get mistaken for cops sometimes? :D

I couldn't possibly see that ever happening. The cartridge is a fully encased metal housing. Any discharges around the outside would just flow through the cartridge to the other side without ever entering the interior. Much the same as a plane being struck by lightning, which happens all the time. The only possibility would be if the dart pierced the casing and I don't see that ever happening.

Never did understand the point of the Taser in his hand - in fact why any weapon in his hand as he checked us out?

The man in the "tourist" shirt and smoking by the door asked me if I knew what was happening. That was before, the 2 HPD escorted the man out from inside. I suggested that possibly someone not knowing better had made an OMG-MWAG call. He got a funny look on his face after I informed him of the legality in Va. and went inside shortly thereafter.

And no City-zen all Ocers do not need to lose weight, thank you. My shadow weighs as much as I do.
