So what if she isn't lying. The USA is a Republic not a democracy, it doesn't matter what the majority wants. The Constitution is the law.

Hmm,

Maybe we should take up a collection to buy her a gun.

Just for Jeri I will let this model go for cost !

Someone who is non compos mentis or in some other way just delusional who says something that is outrageous and not in keeping with the reality that those who are sane agree is reality is not necessarily lying (although they certainly might be).

Just as if someone wearing pink sunglasses says that the sky in pink not blue. That person is not "lying" they are just seeing things in a very distorted way and reporting on what they "see".

Hoplophobia seems to greatly distort the "view" and statements of those that suffer from that form of dementia!!

I see, so she is mentally unstable and therefore unable to obtain a firearm. That explains a lot.

Yep!

Per Colonel Jeff Cooper, "I coined the term "hoplophobia" in 1962 in response to a perceived need for a word to describe a mental aberration consisting of an unreasoning terror of gadgetry, specifically, weapons. The most common manifestation of hoplophobia is the idea that instruments possess a will of their own, apart from that of their user. This is not a reasoned position, but when you point this out to a hoplophobe he is not impressed because his is an unreasonable position. To convince a man that he is not making sense is not to change his viewpoint but rather to make an enemy. Thus hoplophobia is a useful word, but as with all words, it should be used correctly."

She was quoting a WAVE commissioned poll.

The poll commissioned by WAVE is consistent with a 2003 Badger Poll, done by the University of Wisconsin Survey Center, that showed a 69 percent opposition to concealed carry.

So. It's not an outright simple lie, it's a tip of the iceberg we went to great lengths to create this lie-lie.

Certainly not surprising considering who and what she and WAVE are.

...for public consumption. How can we ever trust the "reporters"? We can't, It's like one of you said, they use to be journalists. There was respect for the public, and they were held to a high standard. Reporting a lie or plagiarism would have ruined their reputation, something they don't have anymore.

Raging Against Self Defense:
A Psychiatrist Examines The Anti-Gun Mentality

By Sarah Thompson, M.D.
righter@therighter.com

"You don't need to have a gun; the police will protect you."

"If people carry guns, there will be murders over parking spaces and neighborhood basketball games."

"I'm a pacifist. Enlightened, spiritually aware people shouldn't own guns."

"I'd rather be raped than have some redneck militia type try to rescue me."

How often have you heard these statements from misguided advocates of victim disarmament, or even woefully uninformed relatives and neighbors? Why do people cling so tightly to these beliefs, in the face of incontrovertible evidence that they are wrong? Why do they get so furiously angry when gun owners point out that their arguments are factually and logically incorrect?

How can you communicate with these people who seem to be out of touch with reality and rational thought?
You owe it to yourself to wade through this paper just to get an idea of what motivates these raging, ranting, crazy antis and how to deal with them.

NOPE! She said "Wisconsin voters", as in to indicate the entire state. Not several liberal college students who have a visionary view of the world.

IIRC MKEgal dissected that "poll" pretty well in a previous thread. The "Wisconsin voters" who they "polled" were called using a database from the Democrats and they called something like 300 people

. Also who knows what kind of wording they used when asking them if they were in favor of CC or not since the wording is key to how people will answer.

MKEgal if you remember which thread that was feel free to chime in, been a lot of reading lately with the bill being debated and voted on.

It's the new me.

I just think we need to understand where these girls are coming from. They just need attention. they need to be pampered. Seriously, Jeri has been wearing that same cut since the '70s. Tragic. Maybe we should send her to a spa/salon or something.

If we, uhm, give it to them so to speak, they might have a change of heart. Who knows?

When writing a poll question, how it is worded can and will significantly influence the results.

The only way to accurately report the results of a poll is to quote the question asked first, then the possible responses, then state: "out of X respondents, Y answered this way, z answered this way, etc...

I saw a poll on one of the firearms boards about OC v CC. It had 5 options, but the one option that would have garnered the most votes (as per the comment section) was missing. Intentional? who knows, but question wording and answer options are everything.

I happen to own a J.A., not much of a tool but it is better than a sharp stick.

I was thinking more along the lines of a China-made cap and ball revolver of questionable integrity, but all decked out with a copy of WI's new CC law engraved!

HandyHamlet- man you made me spit up my drink!
