OBX carry

Got back from a trip to the outer banks this past weekend. I had a few questions about OC there. I remember reading somewhere that OC/CC used to be prohibited in National Parks and National Seashores, but now follows state law. Because of this, I assumed that OC is perfectly legal. Am I correct in this assumption? I'm only wondering about the land south of Nags Head.

What about the gamelands? Can we OC or CC on these lands? Do these lands make up part of NC-12? Can you carry in the car as long as you don't leave the highway?

I should have my permit by the next time I return to OBX, yay.
