Open carry in Idaho

I'll make this brief as I'm tired and it's relatively late.

I was escorted from the Boise Town Center Mall today by 3 Boise Police who stated it was illegal for me to be carrying my .45 openly there and that because I have a concealed permit I no longer have the right to open carry.
I would really like to have more information from a lawyer that is Open Carry friendly and possibly a web site member.
I believe that they are in error and would like to just educate them and possibly get an apology from the mall personnel for the embarrassment.

Anyhow, if anyone has more knowledge than I it would be greatly appreciated.

Either this thread should be moved to the Idaho sub-forum or you should repost this there. While I'm sure there are people from other states who can help you, posting in the proper state can generally get you a faster response.

Though I can tell you that I'm yet to hear of a state that actually has laws where once you get a CFP you can no longer OC (though I have heard of multiple police around the country making this claim).

I believe that the Boise mall has a posted policy that prohibits any carry, BTW - however, not all entrances may have this posting. I don't go there enough (almost never, really) to recall.

The police were completely incorrect re: CCW eliminating any right to open carry. You can OC anywhere firearms are not expressly prohibited by law, but will be asked to leave by squeamish private property owners.

There was a big OC at the zoo a couple of years ago - made the TV and printed news big time.

yes Boise police are also complete morons as I used to be station in Idaho for the Air Force. Half the time those LEO's could not tell me with a straight answer on legal wise for firearms. Im not saying the entire force is in the retard leage, but alot of them hassled/abused and didnt even understand there own laws HALF the time.

Boise Mall

I was unaware of any policy regarding 'no firearms' in the mall as I have been wearing a gun open and concealed there for 13 years. Which made it a surprise to me when I was approached by the Boise officers.
I checked the entrance where I came in and there is no such warning, there probably will be as of today, but since I live 1.5 hours away I cannot just run over there
I also noticed there are no such signs at the exit of Sears and the other stores either, what bothers me is that it seems as though the Boise police were being used as a private security force instead of one of their guards informing me of their policy, to which I would comply.
It does seem as though the police are completely unaware of the laws that they are supposed to enforce which bothers me all the more!!

Find out who the acutal owners of the mall are (usually a LLC or corporation) and what their policy is, after all, it is the mall owners private property, not the lease holder's. (think renter and apartment house for a legal comp)

Second: if it is inconvenient for you, have someone check the entrances for specific signs that reference some particular Idaho law. Third, listen to whatever legal advice your lawyer gives you and act accordingly..

IMHO: Boise police need a little extra training...cannot open carry because you have a concealed permit??? I suppose you can also no longer walk or ride a bike now that I have a license to drive, Eh?
