The link to the Nevada Dept. of Public Safety indicates that as of today, July 1, 2011 Nevada will honor Arizona's CCW permits.
Has anyone seen anything more recent than the above.? The above was posted to their site, NVDPS a few weeks ago.

Thanks for the link. I've seen the NV one, as I said, for several weeks now. I believe there is an error in the azdps.gov link in so far as it states that Vermont does not honor AZ CCW. Handgunlaw.us states that Vermont does not require a ccw permit, hence will honor AZ CCW. Perhaps AZCDL can correct me if I'm wrong.

Since Vermont recognizes the right to carry via a (long time ago) Vermont Supreme Court decision, Vermont does not issue CCW permits. Therefore, there is no need for any statutes dealing with permits. Ergo, permits are not "recognized" in Vermont statute.

In Vermont, "permits" aren't necessary so recognition is a non-issue.

Thanks Fred, you said it better than I did. I carried off and on in Vermont for many years, but to be safe I always Had my NY CCW permit with me.

I am ignorant of Nevada law, however, my understanding is that municipalities there may place their own restrictions on the carrying of firearms. Does anyone know if that is true and if so, is it legal to CC on the Strip if you have a valid AZ CCW permission slip?
Thanks

It is false. There are some arguably "grandfathered" statutes in Clark County, but NV has preemption.

If you have the AZ permit, you can CC in NV, following the applicable NRS sections in 202.

FAQ with links: http://www.stillwaterfirearms.org/Pages/CCW_FAQ.php

If you are not sure if you can CC, just OC.

And, review the pamphlet: http://forum.opencarry.org/forums/showthread.php?45415-Nevada-(Open)-Carry-Pamphlet

Nevada doesn't have the strong state preemtion that Arizona does. Cities can make their own rules (a grandfather clause in the law?).

Boulder City, which you drive through on the way to Las Vegas, forbids carry - including in your vehicle. North Las Vegas has similar restrictions.

Even though I have a Nevada CCW permit, I can't remember all the rules. I recommend checking Nevada law for details. NRA-ILA has state information on their website. Here's a link from Alan Korwin's website that may help.

You might also want to query the Nevada OCDO forum.

Regarding concealed carry on the strip - Most (if not all) casinos prohibit firearms. However, if I recall correctly, it's a trespassing issue. The downside, being Vegas, if you are caught, no telling what will happen (tumble down stairs, hand caught in door, etc.) before you are asked to leave.

For places that serve alcohol, it's also a trespassing issue, unlike Arizona.

You may have the "right" to carry in Nevada, but it's unlikely that you can exercise that right where you will need it the most.

No, cities cannot make their own laws. SOME Clark County statutes are arguably grandfathered in, yet it is still under scrutiny.

The "upside" is that such event in a casino is VERY likely to be on video.....
Have your lawyer request it quickly.

Judging from the recent shooting of a permit holder in a Las Vegas Costco and the "coincidental" loss of all video footage of the event, I wouldn't bank on any video evidence to support you being available.

I would not compare CostCo video footage with Casino video footage.

Gaming and all.
