Total confiscation of all privately owned firearms, all types, carried out by unannounced entries and examinations of homes/dwellings by local and state police, sheriff deputies, national guard, and military where needed. Needs to be carried out quickly and with sudden impact upon the populous before they have any chance to find other "homes" for their weapons or to gather together in opposition against this program.
Though most of the nationally known anti-gun organizations will not come out and say this, there are a few who will. And on occasion, one of their spokesmen slips and lets the cat out of the bag by uttering thoughts such as this and when they do, you can almost hear their peers telling them, "Don't say that. We don't want 'them' to know what our real ultimate goal is".
Since there is no way to totally protect private firearms collections from thieves who are willing to spend the time and effort to get to them, it follows that the only way to protect society from these thieves is to remove all firearms from homes which could be targeted for theft.
One can apply this logic to almost anything but doing so would raise the flag of "lunatic" thinking. Example is cars. If a county/town/city is experiencing an unusually high percentage of stolen vehicles, one could argue that vehicles should be banned within those precinct limits. Or prescription medications, or knives, or you name it. There are very real reasons for these things we see happening today and it took years in the making to get us to this point. None of this is by accident and the results are self-evident of what has transpired over the last 100 years, and in particular, the last 60 years.
We are reaping what we sowed.
