Councilman Reeve sounds too smart to be a politician. No wonder his colleagues don't agree with him. The stupids always hate the smarts.

Got to love people that watch western movies and assume that everybody had guns in the "wild west."

San Juan and guns

I remember even in the 1980's, cowboys would infrequently come into town on their horses, LOC'ed and go drinking at the Swallow's bar in Downtown SJC. The horses would be hitched up next to the bar parking lot, just across from Camaros, and Fords, it was quite a site. I was there sometimes, and I don't ever remember one of them being messed with by the deputies or the other bar patrons. We may have gotten a bit toasted, but not stupid enough to bother with a guy with a gun minding his own business. They would then ride the horses back out of town to the east off Ortega Hwy during the cattle season. Times have changed, but the wild west still exist there. San Juan just had a jewelry store owner kill two young robbers from Los Angeles, a few weeks ago that had been busy robbing multiple other Orange County businesses. Maybe the City Council should pass another city law disarming shop keepers, so the residents don't need to be scared about a gun being in any store"for the children". This is just about as legal as their park OC ordinance.

Because none of CA's neighboring states allow loaded open carry in parks right?

Wouldn't want CA to turn into a wild west state like any of its neighbors that have shootouts and blood flowing down streets and park walkways every day...

It's amazing how some politicians think that tv shows like Gunsmoke, movies with Roy Rogers, Gene Autry and the Lone Ranger are historically accurate.
OK, all together now ....FACE PALM!

Perhaps that is the way to change peoples minds about 2A rights. Have several movies and television shows that depict as part of the main plot line lawful gun carrying, lawful gun uses, rational public behaving rationally with firearms.

Maybe all the money being spent on politics and court cases may be better served by producing TV and movies to "retrain" or "unbrainwash" the mass of people who seem to believe EVERYTHING on the boob tube and silver screen.

It seems the city attorney believes they can exempt themselves by defining their parks as "sensitive places".

Funny... They lack armed guards and secure entrances to even scantily meet the definition of a sensitive place -- like an airport or shipyard.
