Watch, listen and learn. If this state ever gets shall issue you just know there's going to be all sorts of hoops like ID and inform that you'll have to jump through.

The driver needed to be more forceful to get the word out about his permit, but damn that cop has no business wearing a badge. So much for protect and serve. They both failed to do their jobs safely and securely so its the driver's fault! That's what happens with the permitting process, everybody quickly forgets its a right. The automatically assume everyone is a criminal, but they don't check or even ask if anyone is armed. Never mind the fact that lawful, permitted persons aren't a threat to law enforcement, they're just stupid people with a legal permit to carry a gun.

It's obvious who the real criminal is here. "And I wouldn't have lost any sleep."

Permission slips: The government giveth and the government taketh them away. Just give them a reason.

I haven't watched it yet out of fear for my nuts torquing. Once I pop some xanax, I will take a watch of it.

Canton is in my family's neck of the woods. Looks like an OC adventure will be had out there shortly.

I have never understood the whole "must inform police officers of gun". I mean, if the state trusts you to carry it on your persons and loaded then shouldnt that be enough ? Why would it make police officers feel better or safer if the person immediately says they have a gun ? In fact, I would think it would make officers MORE jumpy and scared. A police officer walks up to someone they are afraid of and the first thing out of the suspects mouth is "i have a gun !!!"

yeah that calms the whole situation down.....NOT.

btw - this officer should be in jail or a mental ward where he belongs.

This topic seems to be a real hot button. As expect, the thin blue line protects their own. Here's an excerpt from a post on another forum I frequent. This person is an officer for LAPD:

Our latest training update has given us the "green light" to immediately shoot anyone holding a gun, or anything that we perceive as possibly being a gun.

No more shouting, "Police, drop the weapon!" I was amazed as I watched the video. The new updates are the result of "act/react" studies. Very interesting (and sobering) information.

The open carry guys are going to probably win a few small state court judgements, but ultimately, it is going to cost a few of them their lives. The Open Carry guys are going to continue to "push it" and cops are going to begin shooting them.

When this finally gets to the US Supreme Court, the Supremes are going to decide that the "greater public interest" is served by allowing the police to shoot anyone who wears a gun in public and who's hands are not held above their heads with palms open. (or an interpretation strikingly similar to this.)

The alternative is for the Supremes to rule the other way, in which case the police will simply refuse to contact anyone wearing a gun. So if you want to commit ANY kind of offense, simply advertise that you are open carrying, and the police will simply turn the other way. Why would any cop confront anyone open carrying a gun if the cop is not granted a presumption of immunity???

Its funny how the officer assumes that if the cops shoot it out with an open carrier that the open carrier will be killed. I tend to think it would be the other way around. Cops are notoriously horrible shots. They are also well known to be VERY skittish as evidence by the videos of them FREAKING out at the mere mention of a firearm.

I am certain that most open carriers in California would win a shoot out with anyone from LAPD.

My answer to this so called LAPD cop that wrote "Why would a cop confront anyone open carrying a gun" would be bacause it is your JOB. If you are to much of a COWARD to do your JOB then find another JOB.

Open Carry is not the problem it is the criminals that don't follow or care about the gun laws. I have never met a felon that applied for a Conceal Carry or has every Open Carried....IT WOULD DRAW TO MUCH ATTENTION TO THEM.

That's what I call an "Aggressive Personality Disorder" (APD) Wow ! And they let these people carry guns ?
I feel sorry for him, "He just couldn't handle the job" !

On the other hand if they are being trained as is from the post above the "Green Light",
to shoot OCers then that might be a political agenda at hand.
We will see !

Wow! He has no idea whatsoever on how to do his job within the confines of the Constitution. He has no idea how other LEA's operate within free America. Eye opening!

ETA: And their "green light" training of shoot on sight turns every law abiding citizen who is defending themselves into an enemy combatant.

I gather that this would be the one.... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/6151783-post46.html

More choice commentary from Roscoe P. Coltrane...

F off.

Nobody is fondling a weapon. My gun belt and equipment weighs 27 pounds. That's 15% of my body weight. I wear body armor and a dark blue wool shirt and pants in Southern California during July. Excuse me for trying to stay comfortable.

What do you do for a living? What kind of physical condition are you in? How old are you?

It appears to me that there are just certain personalities that will use any excuse whatsoever to justify their actions, even if it can be argued that training and years of uncorrected bad habits have jeopardized their ability to use good judgement.

Boy howdy, that is a fine police officer, how glorious. I am so proud to have such upstanding individuals defending our rights and persons.

I'd say that's incredible, but it really isn't. It's too commonplace. The pos thug belongs in jail--criminal threatening comes to mind. Where was the PC to search the car when it was a traffic stop? This guy has a great payday coming when he files suit. The thug cop is all that's wrong with our 'protect and serve' men in blue. That it is all on tape indicates the cop is not only a thug, but a ******* moron. That it would happen in a Free State is even more disturbing. Philly or new jersey wouldn't be that big of a surprise, but OH is. I hope that ***** gets everything coming to him.

So if you happened to be on the receiving end of the lead stream this officer has in store for you (this is for anyone) just because you are armed, would you return fire?

Its sad that this question even has to be asked...
