Going to see a movie? Don't go to Edwards...

Yesterday I went to see Captain America at the Edwards 22 on Overland in Boise. Little did I know that they would sell me tickets, allow me to purchase concessions, and seat myself and my date in the theater before telling me that they have a policy against weapons. After I was notified that I would no longer be allowed to view my movie I asked if I would be receiving a refund. The managers said yes and began escorting me out of the theater. I met the Theater manager at this point and he told me that they make exceptions for law enforcement. I told him how I felt about that. He then told me that he was only enforcing company policy and that I would be welcome to return unarmed. I explained that I would never be unarmed and will not return due to my personal policy of not taking my business to anyone who wants me to surrender my right to self defense for the convenience of others.

I then called Ed, and, upon his recommendation, headed over to the Northern Lights Cinema/Grill in Nampa to join him for a movie, good food, and A BEER IN PUBLIC VIEW WHILE CARRYING, all for under 25 dollars for two. I will be taking my business there from now on and I strongly suggest the same to anyone looking to view a movie and have some dinner in one stop at a good price. Also the business owner is a pretty cool guy.

I also like the Northern Lights Cinema in Nampa! Great times there watching BSU Football too!

Hmmmm, I open carry all the time at Edwards on Overland. I have never seen a sign and have never been approached or even given a second look. Was it posted?

Yes, they made sure I looked at it. Their "No Weapons" crime preventing sign is a grand total of two and a half inches wide, and half an inch tall, on an eight by eleven sheet of paper posted at the ticket booths. I don't know how I could have missed it.

I had open carried there before and had no problems as well, that's why I was surprised when they asked me to leave.

This is almost funny as they are actually encouraging crime by not allowing law abiding citizens to carry. I bet if someone decided to rob the place and maybe threaten or actually start shooting the manager would be leading the rest of the employees as they run away. How can they say with 100% certanty that I will be safe while there. Edward is about to loose a lot of buisness unless criminals fill the void. I think they need to place ads at the prison in Kuna.

As Clarkebar states, I STRONGLY recommend Northern Lights. Aside from their carry policy, they are very comfortable, serve beer, the movies are still pre-release, ticket costs are cheap, the food is good, the theaters are spacious and clean, plus they are a pretty easy-going bunch of guys.
