If you like it, buy it As long as you have the money, there's never a need to justify a gun purchase. Once you buy it post some pictures.

Don't hunt, but own a 1976 made Winchester Model 94. Have loved that rifle since I was a boy--one of my favorite toy guns. Nothing matches it. It's hung on the wall, and while I enjoy shooting it from time to time, I mostly enjoy just looking at it. Great condition, about 98%. Got it at a gun show. While no other lever action is as iconic, why not get it if you want it? Lever action carbines make great home defense weapons, too. The .30-30 is not something I'd like to be shot with.

I want one or the other, just not both. I own both Marlins and Winchesters and love both. What's a guy to do? ;)

Two choices.
Flip a coin.
Look deep into your heart or mind and decide which brand you like more.

:D I know. The decision really and truly is yours.:shocker:
Here's what I suggest
buy both and then send me the Marlin since I have neither a Marlin nor a 32WS.

If it is just going to be a "wall-hanger", does it matter which you get?

If you plan on shooting it, factor in cost and availability of the ammo!

The .35 Whelan is an obscure chambering but of fairly recent vintage, unlike the popular and ubiquitous 30-30.

If the ammo is too costly or no longer made, I wouldn't waste my time and resources on either rifle.

It won't be a "wall-hanger", it will/would be a working, hunting rifle. The ammo is available, just not the cheapest on the block. As far as the .35 Whelen goes, I would like to get one some day, maybe in a Remington 760 or 7600. They have pretty bad recoil from what I hear (200gr at 2675fps, recoil is 22.6ft/lbs for an 8lb rifle), so I'm not in a rush to get that one.
