B'ham pee dee

My Sweet Baboo and I had to give a deposition at the PeeDee yesterday. Walked in, and took a seat in the waiting room. Detective escorted us in, we spoke for a while, and we left. Everybody had guns, nobody mentioned them. Cool.

This seems to be the rule here now. Nobody, or may I say very few, get their knickers in a twist about it.

I was in one of my favorite pawn shops yesterday when a guy behind the counter went (positively)ape$hip over my pistol. He was from New Jersey and just was not used to seeing people with weapons.

Later Sweet Baboo and I were shopping at Haggens when a customer came up and asked about harassment. He was CC and told us (why do they feel compelled to do that). Short, but positive conversation, the usual invite, and off to see the world.

We went to the Motorcycle swap meet in Skagit. No worries, no mention. We are normal.

Great weekend

Good day to OC

I had a guy come up to me and ask how much I paid for my pistol. That was a first. Had a quick conversation about OC and buying guns at pawnshops.

I have a new neighbor, and he is a PRO gun kinda guy. He has two beautiful daughters and is very, very protective.

Now for the bad incident. First one in a while.
Went out to Diablo by motorcycle with Sweet Baboo, SVG and his significant other. Four bikes, and a great deal of OC exposure on the run. We stopped by a little restaurant for a meal. We had been there before, had not been impressed, but thought we would try it again. They had outside seating, and that was the draw. After ordering, the wait was tremendous till the food slowly arrived. They brought a wrong dish, had a little confusion as to what was ordered, but we were still happy over the ride. We finished and paid our bill and were just about to leave when the (supposed}manager came over and asked if we were police officers. I asked if there was trouble, and she said no, so I said then everything is OK. She then asked if we would put our weapons in our vehicles, and I replied that we were on motorcycles and it would be out of the question. She then asked us to leave as "There is no reason for a gun in a restaurant." The first thing that came to mind was Lubys Cafeteria. As we rose to leave, we were asked by other customers if Washington was still an Open Carry State. We informed them it was and invited them to the website.

We will not go back.

Go up the food chain (pun intended) to more senior mgt or owners - you might get better results, help others in the process too.

Yeppers, that is the plan. Looking at past reviews, it may be more beneficial to the health of others to "steer" them away. (sometimes I crack myself up). I just discovered the have been repeatedly cited for purchasing fresh kills out of season. I cannot seem to find a way to get a copy of the cite. That would leave a bad taste in my mouth.

From my reading of the owner's responses to reviews of his restaurant, I would doubt a rational conversation would have taken place.

Normally I CC but lately have been OC. No one has even looked at me strange. No comments, just business as usual. And that's how it should be. I also live in city limits of bham right now which to my knowledge is filled with fern fondlers and the like. I also believe western washington is predominately liberal and democrat. So it strikes me very weird that no one has complained or nothing.

Also haven't seen anyone else publicly OC yet in whatcom or skagit county. Way different from back south.

Welcome to OCDO. Yes, Normal, that is what OC is around here. You can go almost anywhere with your firearm and you will get the same lack of response.

There are quite a few of us OCing in Whatcom County, you just don't notice, like everyone else.

We have a fazeboog page for Whatcom info (see link at bottom) and the Annual(more or less) picnic is in July at Bloedel Donovan Park. We hope to see you at some of the coffee/luncheon gatherings.

Coffee Meet?

Are we still doing a coffee/lunch meet? I haven't seen any info on them lately.

No excitement for me to report on as far as OC'ing, it's all a non-event. I have OC'd in several new places, Over Easy, the new breakfast place by Trader Joes and Rhodes Cafe, on Lakeway. Pretty good breakfast at both places. I've been upgrading my kitchen/cooking gear so I've been to the mall a dozen or so times in the last month. Shopped at Kohl's and walked thru Kohl's everytime I went to the Macy's kitchen store and clear thru the mall to Kitchen Collection down by Target. Also in Target a few times. No issues at the mall and I didn't see any 'You're Not Welcome' signs (but I wasn't really looking ;-).

Hope to see you all at Bloedel in July but I'm gone for a couple of weeks then so we'll see what the schedule is.

Carry On!

I would really like to get a weekly meeting going again. I would appreciate seeing you guys and gals more often, and I really like the exposure for the cause. I am going to suggest a Sunday meeting at Fred Meyers on West Bakerview. It has access to coffee drinks, as well as almost any others. Lots of foot traffic, and plenty of seating. Any thoughts?

I would recommend a Monthly meet that rotates among several venues.
That new breakfast place Aradcom mentioned is great and there are many more. Summer is coming and people are coming out of their respective cages.

Sunday Morning

For me, earlier in the morning than our typical 10:00am time is better. I'd go for 8:00 but that might be to early for some.

So, this Sunday, May 17, I'm having breakfast at 9:00am at Over Easy, 2430 James St , in the Trader Joe's shopping center. Anybody want to join me?

Well, MSG, unless a ton of people sign up for Sunday I'll put it off 'till next week. I'm sure I can wait that long for breakfast and the pleasure of your company will be worth the wait.

Have fun in Wenatchee and post some pics.
