Did you hear that Governor Walker and his extremist allies just rammed through legislation that puts Wisconsin families directly in danger? Their reckless new “guns in public” law allows people to carry loaded, hidden guns in our bars, restaurants and other public places.
As the Executive Director of the Wisconsin Anti-Violence Effort -- our state’s only grassroots organization dedicated to preventing gun violence -- I can tell you we’ve gone on high alert.
Thankfully, the new law gives every business owner the right to keep loaded guns out -- if they choose to post a sign.
That’s why we’re waging an urgent, all-out effort to reclaim Wisconsin. And the first step is showing loud public support for businesses that make the commonsense choice to stay gun-free.
Please sign our pledge: “I will support businesses that support my family's safety.”
Because of the efforts of WAVE and supporters like you, we secured basic safety measures in an otherwise reckless bill, making sure criminal background checks and permits became part of the final “guns in public” law.
But now, the “guns anywhere” extremists are threatening to boycott any business that defies them by keeping guns out! That’s why WAVE is gathering signatures from concerned citizens like you, so we can show business owners the deep and widespread public support for gun-free businesses.
Add your voice and help keep guns out of Wisconsin’s public places.
Walker and his allies think that the people with the guns make the rules. Let’s send them a message that citizens like you and me won’t let them put Wisconsin families in danger.
