OT: Florida puts teeth into Preemption Violations

This would be great here in Washington State. $5000.00 fine and/or removal from office.

Just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Kryeton, I just read that story, and came here to post it. You beat me to it!

Preemtion with teeth. We need a law like this in Washington State. As I read it, even LEOs would be subject to a $5000 fine for enforcing firearms laws that violate preemption.

Starting October 1st, any public official who passes or enforces gun regulations below the state level faces a $5,000 personal fine and could even be removed from office by the governor for enacting or enforcing local gun laws.

Um, you guys do know that violation of Washington's preemption statute is a misdemeanor crime, right?

    See RCW 9.41.810.

I petitioned the King County prosecutor for just that. They said they would consider it once the admin. rule/preemption issue was finally settled.

If force is used to compel compliance with a preemption violation, does that make it a breach of the peace?

As I see it, this is merely the "weasels enforcing the law against the foxes who are running the chicken house".

Who's going to actually bring a misdemeanor charge against WA officials? The local Prosecutor? The State AG?
