Handgun Possession Age?

The age to carry in SC is now 18. This was changed a short while back and a lot of sources have not been updated but it is 18. I assume that you are under 21 because of your question on this.


2. I have read that open-carry is illegal in SC, but what about OC'ing while hiking or hunting?

OC is legal while hunting or fishing as long as you have a valid hunting or fishing license. As for hiking OC would be legal only on private property where you have permission from the property owner. Since I doubt that you are talking about hiking on private property the answer would probably be no.


3. I used to carry a loaded (not chambered) rifle and pistol in my vehicle in AZ, would this be illegal in SC?

You can carry a loaded handgun in your glove box, console or trunk without a permit. Rifles laws are more lax and I can't seem to find very many restrictions at all on them.

Sorry if these are elementary questions, but I have searched the laws and couldn't find any direct answers.
