"Mayor Jean Antoine explained that some residents were alarmed and frightened..."

Yet most residents were neither alarmed nor frightened. This is America, not some foreign country where the likes and dislikes of the few trump the rights of the many. Most people know better than this.

"'It wasn't to our liking,' Antoine said."

Would an increase in crime, which open carry deters, be more to your liking, Mr. Mayor?

As for liking, it was certainly to the liking of those law-abiding citizens who were legally carrying firearms in an open manner. Regardless, neither your nor anyone else's like or dislike trumps the "right of the people to keep and bear arms," which "shall not be infringed."

If you don't like that, Mr. Mayor, perhaps you'd be more comfortable in England, where even pocket knives are banned. No, that hasn't put a dent in crime over there, but perhaps you'd "feel" safer. Or just go live in Norway, where citizens are totally deprived of the right to defend themselves.
