If I understand this correctly, the guy was breaking the law about the "eyesore" ordinance,

and he was dumb enough to take a recording device into a court of law.

Stupid is as stupid does.

EDIT: I've read back through this thread twice, and I see that the judge's decision to dismiss the charges were found in one of the links that were provided.

I stand corrected.
