Before laws against monopolies existed, monopolies provided much needed services but at prices that were through the roof. Put simply, monopolies are bad, competition is good. When profits get too fat, it allows competitors to enter the market, providing services at much reduced rates, which pulls the rug out from under those who're gouging the prices.
For example, I'm paying about $8 a month for full-featured, unlimited long distance phone service. If I were to get it from a phone company or my ISP, it would cost me more than $30.
I know many of us don't like the DoJ, but they really do some good in our country. They're simply misguided when it comes to lawful carry by law-abiding citizens.
