Banks policies?

Is there a bank that actually has a written policy that says it just follows state law? I'm getting tire of my bank, not because of an open carry issue. If I am going to change banks, I would rather switch to a bank that respects our 2nd Amendment.

I've never had an issue at any US Bank branch in Skagit county, if that helps. Excellent service in the Sedro-Woolley branch as well - great group of gals there!

Bank OC

I OC in Bellingham at ICU (Industrial Credit Union), Chase and Washington Federal (and previously at Horizon before WF took them over). Haven't had a problem at any of them.

I was reading some thread in the past few days that listed OC friendly businesses and Chase was on the list.

Banks in general Suck!

They take your money, pay nothing for the use of it, charge you a fee for everything, and then tell you what you can't do with it.

Find a good Credit Union in your area and use them. They now offer all the services of a Bank, pay more on deposited funds, don't drain your account with all the fees, and in many cases will refund any ATM fees charged for accessing your money. In other words, Credit Unions don't suck like Banks do.

Your money is insured too.

Haven't had any issues carrying in my Credit Union either.

Is there a bank that actually has a written policy that follow state law on firearms?

I think the answer is probably no.

Plenty of us have had positive experiences with our banks/credit unions, so we keep using them. I've OCed into a couple local BofAs and Sterling Savings Banks without incident. BofAs suck, but for other reasons. Sterling has been good. NavyLCDR is right about USAA, but not everybody has an "in." It is a good option, though, if you do.

Hey Amz,

I think what your getting here is that no one has pursued the question to a written response. This may be something that you do directly when you interview your next bank. You'll go in and ask for a "New Accounts" Rep., and after they pitch you on why your going to love their service, and products, you can ask that question directly. It will be interesting to see what they say....or produce.

It seems to me that there has been this discussion before with regards to banks and in particular, WellsFargo.... and that they take the Starbucks line...what ever the state says, but I am not able to find the discussion.

Personally, I bank at BOA, BECU, WellsFargo and Chase.....I OC in all of them, in different branches, in different towns and have never had an issue except once in Tacoma, Safeway branch where the BOA manager came out to me in line, and asked me to CC...because he thought they had a policy against it and was concerned about customer's being nerved out.....I told him that he was incorrect, and the WF corporate policy was to follow state law.....he said, "Oh, well OK" and then stood by me in line chatting and escorted me up to the tellers window for my transaction. We've become minor friends now when I go there, he doesn't concern himself.

I have heard that Chase and BOA is negative, but I've not had an issue and have actually had tellers comment and thank me in both BOA and WellsFargo. So, that's my story and I'm sticking to it...

I have been in a BOA OC (years ago, it was still SeaFirst) then because of fees and mortgage, I changed to Island Savings, which was taken over by PNB, which was taken over by Wells Fargo. It is my understanding Wells Fargo does have an official "state Law" policy, and I can say, I never a problem with them. No fees and they pay you a (minimal) interest rate on you checking as well as savings accounts. Only a few $$ in my case, but it is better than fees.

US Bank actually has a written policy against carry

BOA has been OC friendly
Key Bank has been OC friendly

Like many others I will soon be dropping my "bank" and going to a credit union.

I have not had any problems in BoA, But I thought I read somewhere that they will not ever do a business loan for anything firearm related. Like Bill, I will be looking into a credit union also.

NavyLCDR is right about USAA, but not everybody has an "in." It is a good option, though, if you do.

There are a lot of people out there that have that "in" and perhaps don't realize it. It's not just available to active or retired military, Veterans are also eligible as long as they separated honorably.

"Eligibility" for USAA Auto and Property insurance is required but most all of their other services, including Banking is open to just about everyone.

FWIW, they pay better rates on CD's right now than most other banks and credit unions, at least locally.

I've OC'd in Bellinghams US Bank with no problem, I just carry until asked to leave. I wouldn't open an account there or in most banks.

+1 for Credit Unions.

Re: Usaa

I cant seem to find it but it seems like I remember a thread on OCDO about USAA not being gun friendly at all. All I could find is http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2037638/posts which could only be for Florida. On the actual website it says they will comply with all local, state, and federal laws.... but then follows with they will shun any activity that may distract their employees or patrons... I tried to look for an e-mail but it seems if your not an online bank member they dont want to hear from you except by phone. I dont suppose any of you USAA members could shoot an e-mail off to inquire as to their Policies.

As to the OP I would remind you that you live in Kennewick. I use to live in Tri-cities and remember that being the most crime of the three(RICHland being the lowest... go figure). I have spoken with a Wells Fargo branch manager when I wentin to get a loan for my house. He told me its Wells Fargo's policy to comply and respect all local, state, and federal laws but said he didnt have anything in writing for me. Good luck with the bank hunt friend!!!

USAA is a Bank that services the US Military, current, retired, or honorably separated. They only have about 7-8 locations in the World. If you want to do business with them you are most likely going to have to be an "online customer" or go to an ATM. Kind of hard to keep customers from OC'ing while doing business online or at an ATM.

Peoples inside a Haggens

I have had a few banks in Bellingham and I will dump in a heartbeat if I have ANY kind of service problems. Peoples has always had a "song in their hearts and a smile on their faces" every time I go in. I do not know if their good humour is policy or just downhome western hospitality. I believe I will go in and ask.

I am so glad you had a good time. YES people we were drinking beer and OCing at the same time. No weapons came out and no one was harmed during the drinking of this beer.
I have received the info on the 9mm Flobert, Thanks, I needed that.
