I needed some various things for the honeydo list today, so I took my two daughters to Home Depot. It's a nice day so I wore a silk tshirt and OC'd. I must have talked to 10 different associates looking for things and no one batted an eye. It's hard to think that many of them didn't see my sidearm. I complimented one young man on his Colorado and American flag tattoos on the back of each tricep. The only one I saw "look" was when someone escorted me over to a newly opened line. I saw the checker before she saw me and so I saw her give a slight start, but other than that she didn't even notice.
We talked in the car about 9/11 and all the flags flying and stopped in at the American Legion who were having an open day before a spaghetti this afternoon and tonight. I took them around to thank the vets and they thanked us for their support. One gentleman asked if I was a cop. "Nope, just their bodyguard," I said gesturing to my daughters. Everyone laughed good naturedly and I added, "I figure if y'all are out there protecting our freedoms I may as well exercise them."
