He is a former LE, and has already stated that he will voluntarily disarm. Of course he is 'good with that.' He doesn't care about everyone else, as long as he is okay with the regulations and/or restrictions.
Well thank you, Captain Obvious (or Oblivious), for your insightful input. Everyone has their limit and is okay with certain regulations and/or restrictions. That's kind of why we uh, you know, vote, so that (usually) the majority of people who concur on something get their way. What you find acceptable, I may not, and 'visa versa.'

You must never visit nevada.
:::Sarcasm Deactivated:::

Do you know if my AZ CCW permit is good at the strip? My understanding is that Nevada does not have strong pre-emption laws and local ordinances can ban firearm carry.

Thanks in advance.

You pose that question as if us Arizonans that are 'in the know' about firearms and firearms laws are complacently sitting around, twirling our thumbs, completely uninterested in getting rid of these stupid laws. Fact is that nothing could be further from the truth. I vote. I donate to groups that support the Second Amendment. I OC/CC. I refuse to give my business to stores that are "gun-free zones." I write letters to businesses that don't allow firearms and have actually been successful at personally getting one to reverse their stance and take down their sign. Etc.

Your implications are ridiculous, and frankly, extremely insulting to those of us who work hard to make Arizona a state of firearm ownership perfection. As has been said by Azcdlfred, you have to take some bad to get some good. Not that long ago, CC was illegal in AZ. Then came the permit system, then Constitutional Carry. The progress made in the past 20 years or so is incredible, and over time these small nuisances will be eliminated. Have faith in your brothers and sister in Arizona instead of preaching and talking down to them.

Yet his implications are NOT ridiculous for all those posting in the AZ forum. Some have expressed dislike for that specific law. Others have expressed agreement with that specific law.

An Arizona permit is valid in Nevada, as of 01 July 2011.

I am quite certain of the information there, as I am the one who actually inputs what we receive and review.

As to the "strong pre-emption," you are entirely correct, but no NEW ordinances can ban firearm carry, only what was in place prior to a certain date(preepmtion for 'on or after June 13, 1989'). SB-92 of the 07 session tried to get "before" added, but while that wording is in statute, discussion continues as to if it preempts ALL ordinances or not....
It makes the "K" statute seem simple in comparison.

. OC as well as CC are lawful on the strip, afaik.

The specific statute governing preemption is quite "muddy," to say the least, and so far, attempts to clean it up have met with much resistance from Clark County / Las Vegas (LE / govt). North Las Vegas appears to have the most onerous of regulations, but at least the Clark County registration was forced to have 72 hours and 60 day grace periods.

You misunderstand the purpose of my post. I don't mean to preach or talk down. I am only hoping to help in the effort to educate more people about their local laws and pose questions which provoke healthy debate. I appreciate your input.

Correct, but they are absurd to those of us who want those particular laws removed and work hard to do so and fight for the right to OC/CC. (Me, for example)

AZ is not the only state that has remote locations that cover great distances, if you don't believe me look at a map of the US. I applaud AZ's respect for the 2A, we here in MO are getting close, and my home state of South Carolina has a great deal of work yet left to do. I commend and respect those AZ citizens that worked to get AZ where it is today.

But, AZ "ain't all that and a bag of chips."

How many states are on the border with Mexico? A largely unsecured border? You seem to have NO idea and scant appreciation of who and what comes across daily.

AZ went backwards with the permit in '94. It was not IAW the state constitution. I've carried a gun here since '66... long before any damn permits. New Mexico didn't invent a permit 'til '04. I think we can thank the California influence on Phoenix... but that's what comes with immigration from the socialist states. All in all... 'K" is reasonable... regardless of what you yankees think of it.

What is your PROBLEM? If you don't like the law... write the AZ Legislature and voice your objections. ******* armchair lawyers piss me off to no end... particularly when they're not directly involved. Cops don't stop people here just to hassle them for their guns (or anything else) minus RAS. You sound like some kind'a liberal looney-tune. ****! Go away!

What is YOUR problem? I am discussing the topic at hand, in a rational, reasonable, and polite manner. You, OTOH, are not. YOU, seem to want it your way, and could care less what happens to others, whether they live IN AZ, or visit AZ, or live in another state and never set foot in AZ. WHY do you have that much animosity towards others?

The trolls are haunting the AZ forum. I might be back in a month or so. Maybe not. I carry my guns as I will... when I will and do what I damn well please. AZCDL speaks for me and I support them. None of this other nonsense matters... 'waste of time arguing with a bunch of e-punks with attitudes. It's obvious why they have the problems they do... or imagine.

Actually, the main "attitude" problem in these AZ threads has been yours.

So, it seems you have work to do amongst your AZ OC buds then.......

Nope. I don't have any "OC buds." I don't OC or CC to be trendy and/or make political statements; I OC/CC for personal protection. What other people think is their own busineses... I'm not a salesman. Either you like OC/CC or you don't. If someone has a problem with my OC/CC, too bad so sad. If they confront me about it, they'll get a nasty response. Depends on the mood I'm in that day, to be honest...usually it's extreme sarcasm, sometimes it's just profanity directed at them, and other times I laugh and tell them that they have me confused with someone who cares about their opinion.

SR, I'm out of here for a while, too. Far too many outsiders down here nit picking AZ gun laws and they don't know when to ZIP IT.

I'll probably see you at the next AZCDL event, or an OC/CC event in Tucson or a OC dinner meet in Phoenix.

Seems you ARE a bit of an "image problem" when it comes to public perceptions of citizens with firearms then.
