The Harrisonburg Police Department has arrested a male, who was involved with the weekend shooting. O'Rondae Jones, 19, of Manassas, VA was charged with two counts of brandishing a firearm.

Around 12:30 a.m., Mr. Jones and George Escobar were in the area of the 1400 block of Devon Lane, when Mr. Jones brandished a gun toward the male victim. The male victim then shot Mr. Jones in the upper leg.

Mr. Jones was taken to Rockingham Memorial Hospital and later transferred to the University of Virginia Medical Center, where he has since been released. The investigation reveals this shooting was done in self-defense and charges will not be placed against the male victim, who shot Mr. Jones.

The male victim also holds a concealed weapon permit. For his safety, HPD will not be releasing any additional identifying information of the male victim.

Before the shooting occurred; officers also received several complaints throughout the night that a male matching the description of Mr. Jones was brandishing a firearm at other individuals. Mr. Jones is being held at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail.

George Escobar, 19, of Falls Church, VA was charged with two counts of giving false ID to law enforcement, unlawful use or injury to telephone lines, and obstructing justice. Mr. Escobar also had outstanding warrants from Falls Church.

Mr. Escobar and Mr. Jones are acquaintances of one another. Investigators continue to follow-up with individuals involved in the shooting and the other firearm brandishing incidents.

Police ask anyone, who experienced a similar incident, to contact the Harrisonburg Police Department Anyone with additional information, who wishes to remain anonymous, is encouraged to call Crime Solvers at 540-574-5050 or text "HPD" plus your tip to 274637 (CRIMES)
