I am fascinated by the fact that people are more inclined to listen to silent rebukes and chastizement than to whistles and yelling from someone in a police uniform.

It's not so much a newfound technique as a lost art.

After all, traffic policeman of old, before the invention of lights, were dressed in uniforms and white gloves. Perhaps the mimes are simply dusting off an old, but effective standard.

Except for the the face paint, of course.
