According to this news report, Marquette U in Milwaukee will continue to be a victim disarmament zone.

The university currently bars weapons in academic buildings, offices and residence halls.
...
People will be allowed to carry in outdoor areas of campus, in student apartments, buildings leased from the university or in university lots or structures.

No mention of metal detectors to make sure that nobody's bringing SD tools or weapons into a building,
no mention of free lockers to store SD tools while in the building,
no mention of the U increasing its police staff to protect people...

And what's surprising, esp. with the law school they have,
no mention of the liability.
This is a private school, so they wouldn't have the $50,000 cap on damages (discussed in another thread) gov't agencies apparently have.

So far, only 1 anti-rights comment.

They are going to be in a world of hurt when someone gets mugged/raped (ya, that's never happened there right?)/killed.

Can someone remind me again what the penalty is if discovered to be carrying in a posted establishment?

No suprise. The Joyce Foundation has given them a lot of money. Howard Fuller, the head of Maquette's School of Education is on the Joyce board of directors.

943.13 (1m) says it's a class B forfeiture
939.52 (3)(b) says that'll cost you up to $1000
Good news is that it's not a crime [see 939.12], so you can't be arrested (not that that's stopped police in the past...),
& can't have your property siezed (ditto).

(But 29.921 says that DNR wardens may arrest for a forfeiture.)
