Uhm, I guess they got it....but then they proved their idiocy by failing to make the jump in logic that they shouldn't be banned for LAC's.

I sent this email to the director:

    Ms. Cameron,

As you so eloquently stated on your 'Visit' page "Although weapons and firearms are banned, Rotary Botanical Gardens cannot ensure the protection of visitors or its employees from individuals who unlawfully enter with weapons or firearms, nor does it offer protection against the actions of violators."

You seem to understand that the only thing laws affect is the law abiding. Since the people that would come in and cause issues with firearms aren't going to care about your signs and statements and since you statement seems to be there to attempt to shield you from liability if something happened, why not accept the guaranteed immunity offered by the state via 175.60(21) (c) An employer that does not prohibit one or more employees from carrying a concealed weapon under sub. (15m) is immune from any liability arising from its decision. (d) A person providing a firearms training course in good faith is immune from liability arising from any act or omission related to the course if the course is one described in sub. (4) (a).?

As you may or may not know, the IHOP in Nevada had a sign that banned firearms but a person intent on mayhem walked past the sign, went inside and shot 11 people.

    Respectfully,

This is the part of the statute you should have cited.

175.60(21) (b) A person that does not prohibit an individual from carrying a concealed weapon on property that the person owns or occupies is immune from any liability arising from its decision.

At some point, perhaps on Milwaukee Metro (where guns are banned), somebody will be injured by a crook with a firearm and a lawyer smelling the big bucks will successfully sue based on the entity's decision not to take advantage of the WI law granting immunity from civil liability if the entity does not prevent lawfully armed citizens from going armed. (I doubt that Milwaukee has the money to put one or two armed police or armed private security on every bus.) After that first lawsuit, all the gun ban folks will see their insurance dropped and the dollars will speak loudly - and the lawyers will change their tunes.

Friends, try to keep in mind that Wisconsin is naive to concealed carry and the liberals are envisioning things that simply did not happen in the other "shall issue" states. What is so amazing about that is that while the Wisconsin liberals are bemoaning the end of life in Wisconsin as they know it, they do not think twice about seeing people in blaze orange open-carrying high powered rifles (up North), or high powered handguns, and shotguns (southern WI) for 10 days in mid November. Heck, Wisconsin even allows the legally blind to go try and murder Bambi. But, somehow the thought of an honest and law abiding citizen carrying a personal protection firearm for the protection of self and loved ones terrifies the concealed carry opponents; particularly in the People's wannna-be Socialist Republic of Madizstan.

Carry on my friends, proudly carry on.

We're discussing this in another thread and I'm pretty sure they don't have the authority to ban firearms on Milwaukee Metro after November 1st. Not saying that will stop them, and it's too bad that 66.0409 has no teeth; but in court I'd think a guy would win.
