"I'm flying to **** you international because I don't give a ****, but I am having trouble finding my terminal. Can you help me out and go **** yourself?"

I remember when I used to be able to get on a plane with a cigar in my mouth, a gun in my hand, and a 5x3 American Flag in the other....times have changed....

Where are you going?
"Through security"

I mean, what's your final destination?
"The airplane"

What city will that airplane take you to?
"You just looked at my ticket, why don't you tell me?"

Farking TSA is a waste of money and is packed full of idiots.

I'm going somewhere that is none of your business and I'm going there, because as an American citizen I have that right.

I'm going out of the country in the very near future. If I am asked that question, I will be very sorely tempted to give my favorite answer to those who ask questions that are none of their business:

Where are you going?

You don't know?
No.

You mean I didn't tell you?
Ahhh, no.

Must be none of your (expletive deleted) business, then.

Only reason I won't is that my lovely bride would be very, very upset with me if we didn't get on the airplane.

You guys are missing the point of Why there are these 'chat downs' instead of some guy's gloved hand groping your package, or your daughter.

The screener could not care less if you're going to Dallas, Texas for a competition. But if they ask "Are you visiting the Alamo while you're there?" and you answer "Of course, it's right downtown", that might cause extra inquiry as the Alamo's only about 3 hours out of town.

Similarly if they ask "Are you visiting family?" and you stumble to come up with a name, or a city that's in the same state (or in the same country for that matter.)

It's not the destination they're worried about, it's the journey and the subject's reactions to questions.

them "where are you going?"
me "through the gate"
them "what is your destination"
me "ummm seat 83, row 2"

them "what city"
me "the one that my arriving airport is located in"

them "for what business"
me "my business"

kind of like when police ask "got any bombs, hand granades, tanks, dead bodies, skyscrapers or bazookas in the trunk?" they know you dont, but they want the reaction to find out if your hiding something? lol i would stumble and get interrogated just to make their day less pleasant lol

Does not matter, it's none of their concern.

I had a cop ask me that once. I couldn't help but laugh. Not in a douche way, but like are you serious?

While I understand why we (yes, I include myself in this) are upset with the intrusive questioning, it actually has a better chance of identifying an actual terrorist bent on causing harm to the airplane and the people presently waiting to fly inside that airplane. El Al has been using this style of pre-flight checking to catch bombers and other nutjobs instead of pornoscopes and probulating passengers. And they have actually caught them before they got on the plane and scattered the passengers and luggage all over the landscape from 35AGL.

TSA is going to be behind the 8-ball forever due to their utter failure to accomplish anything except annoying and inconveniencing passengers for years. What they need is a really good PR campaign explaining that they know all the stuff they have done up to this point has been worthless and annoying and that they are now going to try to do the one thing that has a history of actually working. Seeing as how that's still going to come across as "I'm from the government and I'm here to help you" they will have a real hard time selling it. But the first time they surround some swarthy-complected dude wearing too much clothing and who seems to be about 3 sizes bigger above the waist than below, who has been looking around like a cat on rollerskates in a rockingchair marathon and sweating bullets every time anybody looks at them, then we all might start accepting this new program.

stay safe.

It's not 'instead of', it's 'in addition to'.
Especially if someone doesn't feel like chatting, or doesn't feel like letting the gov't into her private life.

It's not the destination they're worried about, it's the journey and the subject's reactions to questions.
That's part of what annoys me.
The other part is that simply by being a private person & telling gov't agents that my life is none of their business they could decide that I'm "hostile" & "suspicious" & they think that excuses them rummaging through my bag, or is a reason to call police on me.

So far, only 48 travelers out of about 132,000 who have been questioned here at Logan have refused to answer the questions, and instead their carry-on bags were physically searched.
"If they refuse to answer, we (still) let them catch their flight,"
As though being private were a crime, & they'd find evidence in my bag?
Hmmm... I know sign language. Wonder if they have people at every checkpoint who do?

Travelers say the questions typically focus on where they are headed, for how long and the purpose of the trip. More probing questions include whether carry-on bags have liquids or why the traveler is holding so much cash.
All of which is none of their :cuss: business.
They already don't like it when I use a photo ID that's not a driver's license.

They're looking for behavioral clues to possible deception, and hostility that warrants further scrutiny or a referral to law-enforcement officials.
As I said above, telling the gov't to take a flying leap shouldn't be grounds for further intrusion.

I was going to bold this whole thing:
From May 2004 to August 2008, 2 billion people boarded aircraft at SPOT airports and 152,000* were referred for secondary questioning, according to a Government Accountability Office (GAO) report in May 2010. About 14,000** passengers were referred to law enforcement officers and 1,100 were arrested during that period.

Rather than charging anyone with terrorism, the SPOT detentions included 427 arrests of undocumented immigrants, 209 for outstanding warrants, 166 for fraudulent documents and 125 for drug possession.

Meanwhile, GAO checked 16 people who had been charged in six terrorist plots during that period and found they had passed unhindered at least 23 times through eight airports where SPOT officers worked.
* 8/1000 of 1%
** 7/10,000 of 1%

Man, I hope the airports I'll be going through in NOV don't try this.

I have absolutely no problem with the TSA folks ASKING such questions as long as my NOT ANSWERING does not delay my progression through the security check point or delay any behind me.

"Nah, it's a big trunk, I'm pretty sure she's still alive. You have a good day, Officer."
Yes, I actually said it.
Yes, he did an about face and stood there thinking if it gave him cause to investigate or not.
Yes, he finally figured out it was a Mazda Miata after I popped the trunk release.

Just over 5 cu.ft., no one over about 5-years old is fitting in there.

And yes, I had to get out of the car myself and close the trunk when he walked off in a huff.

Lucky he didn't take your exiting the vehicle as your approval for his search of your property! I do like your humor!
