*Congressional Reform Act of 2011*

1. No Tenure / No Pension.

A Congressman/woman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay
when they're out of office.

2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security.

All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security
system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system,
and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for
any other purpose.

3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.

4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise.
Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the
same health care system as the American people.

6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American
people.

7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen/women are void
effective 1/1/12. The American people did not make this contract with
Congressmen/women.

Congressmen/women made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in
Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen
legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to
work.

If each person contacts a minimum of twenty people then it will only take
three days for most people (in the U.S. ) to receive the message. Don't you
think it's time?

THIS IS HOW YOU FIX CONGRESS!

If you agree with the above, pass it on. If not, just close the window.

If there were enough members of Congress who would support this idea then it might fly. We can't fix Congress by asking the current wolfpack to change their ways. They must be voted out and replaced with citizen legislators.

Agreed. We have got to vote dome new folks in first.

The only thing I would add to the list would be this.

No member of Congress may serve more than two terms in their lifetime.

Term limits are really what we need.

No what we need is a more awake and properly educated public to apply their votes in a manner that supports Freedom and America. Term Limits will only create a perpetual 'Lame Duck' session.

Allow me to refer you to another Amendment that actually addresses the sentences you propose:

Amendment 8 - Cruel and Unusual Punishment
Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.
Proposed 9/25/1789
Ratified 12/15/1791

Thank you, you are correct. My made up amendments to made up law do not go far enough.

I therefore wish to amend my amendments and triple the original penalties. And to cover the unusual part I think they should only be allowed to eat armadillo salad and must wear a single rubber boot on their head for the duration of their incarceration.

Agreed. There's a lot to be said for continuity. Watching poorly experienced Congressmen try to reinvent the wheel all the time would be unbearably painful.

The main problem with people electing Congressmen who enact stupid legislation is that they elect Congressmen who promise them the moon, then abuse their office trying to keep their promises.
