Granted there is only one side of the story here, but if someone was driving at you and is trying to hurt you with that car, wouldn't that be considered a threat to your self? I dont know what happened here, but to me it does sound like self defense.

LEO will fire into a car if it is attempting to run them over as a self defense move what makes this attempted murder?
