Interesting thread. Just a thought. When replying or emailing it's best to keep it very short and to the point. I really lost the gist of the long reply.

One thing that is puzzling about OC - why do people fret about a handgun they can see. They might be standing next to a criminal with a concealed gun. At least the gun you see, being carried by a law-abiding citizen is not going to jump out of the holster (or be pulled from concealment) and start shooting.

I sometimes have a cartoon in my head (Guy sees a man with a compact semi-auto in a discrete holster on his belt) 'Look, look, that guy has a gun'. (guy next to him opens his coat and says) 'you mean like this' (displaying a sawed-off and a Thompson Contender), lol.

I sent this to the general e-address.

I have been informed some of the PTs in Las Vegas have refused to follow the norm of the majority of Nevada business who allow their customers to follow the state law allowing legal firearms to be carried on premise. A very small example of business that do follow the state law are, Chillys, Out-Back, Famous Dave’s, Denny’s, Wal-Mart, Target, Smith’s food stores, Fry’s Electronics, The shopping malls.

For a business to say they do not allow guns in is simply not true. PTs allows illegal guns in their facilities all the time, every night. Those that carry illegal guns do not carry them in such a way they will be seen. So having such rule will only stop those that carry legally from entering the business. Those that legally open carry a gun are not a felon and have passed a background check to purchase the firearm. Those legally carry concealed are every 5 years fingerprinted and background checked, undergo firearm training, and updated on the laws all at their own expense. Civilians that carry legal firearm have a lot invested into their right to do so. Legal carrying gun owners know gun laws better than most security and some of the law enforcement.
If the establishment wanted to make it known, they want to control weapons entering their establishment then post a sign saying “NO ILLGIAL WEAPONS ALLOWED” Have the balls to post that sign and you will get all the free advertising across the pro-gun blogs, forms, and, internet sites.

Until that happens I and my friends will no longer spend a dime in any PTs.

You had me till the second paragraph...:)

Are you telling me that once again I sent out something hard to read and to comprehend my point? I have a talent. My dad always said if you cannot dazzle them with brilliance baffle them with Bull s#1t.

I just received another response, and this one sounds to be promising. Now the question is who among us would like to attend to present ourselves in the most professional and educated fashion.

Mr. Green - Thanks for being patient with us in getting back with you on the issues at hand, in regards to firearms and our taverns. Myself and Ed Kravetz, Director of Security, would really like to invite you to lunch, either Monday or Tuesday of next week or after the holidays. Let us know what your schedule may look like and we will make arrangements.

Ed and I would like to discuss any items of concern and present to you what our company is all about. Ed and I are on the same page and we feel you will walk away with a feeling that the Golden Tavern Group will support you and your members and what you have come to expect from the community, in regards to firearms in business establishments.

I would also like to extend that invite to one other individual that you feel would stand a benefit to join us. I truly believe that you will see that there was one occurrence that created this situation and by working and communicating together, we can all feel good about the outcome and move forward.

Please reach out to me with any questions and some options on when we can meet.

Thanks for your time.

TODD PARMELEE

I sounds promising. I would think that is due to the many members of these forums that have stepped up in support.

I am definitely interested in what they feel was the 'one incident' that created this issue...but it sounds like they are willing to reverse the error of their ways. Hope it is true.

perhaps they would like to meet the Nevada State Director for Students for Concealed Carry on Campus? If so, shoot me a PM. I think I could be a great diplomat and have successfully reversed the So. NV RTC's stance on firearms.

Nevada carrier and I have both confirmed with VP of operations and Director of Security a sit down lunch/meeting to discuss and resolve this matter in person, we of course will be open carrying to this meeting. More to come after our sit down.

I would like to be there however have to work. I would like to question them on their Pahrump property the Pahrump Nugget casino that also does not allow firearms. Not sure about permitted concealed however, I know they do not allow open carry. I opened carried to a gun show they had. I made it all the way to the entrance of the gun show and the ones letting people into the gun show freaked out. They said we need to call security. Someone said let’s call Mr. cannot remember over and ask him what to do. I believe the person was the supervisor of the gun show and he asked me how did you get in here. I said I came in the front door like everyone else and walked back here. He said they do not allow firearms in here and said follow me I will let you out which turned out to be a back door. Me or my family have not spent a dime in the place since.

A follow-up:

Myself and Nevada Carrier met up at Pub for the lunch meeting. which was all positive in my opinion, we discussed that this was an isolated incident and this issue has never even been broached to them before. All in all a very good meeting, they raised some concerns and we put them to bed by offering ourselves in a professional calm manner. They asked for some suggestions on how to ease customers that have a bad reaction to guns. What this comes down to is PTs is very pro gun, they will not kick you out for OC or CC what they will do is either stop serving you alcohol if the bar tender starts to get leery of how much you have consumed per TAM regulations regardless if your carrying or not. The business even reached out to us as a community and offered up their venues for any meetings or lunches we would like to have.

They fully support 2a rights and our rights to carry, they just ask that we take the time to show good faith and build up a relationship with the managers and bar tenders as they can better mitigate any customers reaction to someone carrying and enjoying a beer at the same time. Much like being a regular at the bar, show them that you are no threat, just there to enjoy your time, the food, the atmosphere, the beer, etc so they can tell a would be customer they know the person and have zero to fear. The PTs pubs higher managers are all very open and very friendly.

Just remember we as an open carry community must show ourselves to be above standards when it comes to mingling with the public.

the Director of security did reach out to both myself and Nevada Carrier and gave us his direct line and asked if theres another incident to give him a call and he would have the issue resolved internally at that location. We do have to remember they have a business to run and have over 650 employees not all of them are going to know the laws but if you do encounter an incident remember to not take the defensive so quickly, be calm, courteous, and friendly.

Rest assured PTs has put this issue to bed and have said, they welcome any all patriot, open carry, or conceal carry alike.

Excellent! Should an encounter take place, what is their recommended immediate course of action? Is there someone we should ask the employee to contact should they have questions?

as all encounters get names of people involved, ask to speak to the manager on duty and the GM of that location should already know their policy if not, have them speak to the Todd VP of operations I can give any one that has an issue the direct line of the Director of Security, of course giving him a heads up of what took place so he is informed.

Finally, I want to say thank you Nevada Carrier for coming with me and taking time out of your day to address this issue along side me. Great experience.

This was not an isolated thing. I had it happen to me a year ago, they called and did this whole thing with me and apologized and welcomed me back, offered to comp me lunch etc, and then a whole year goes by, no problems, until yet again I get asked to leave. So I want them to put something in writing, and a copy I can keep in my wallet, because I won't be returning to PTs when I know it just takes some uneducated bartender that can throw me out. I had been in that same restaurant a dozen+ times, and he had never said anything to me, or even noticed I was carrying, and I never once consumed alcohol. I had been going once every other week or so, so I was in plenty of times...So the stuff about giving a direct line...and showing good faith/raising a reputation is complete garbage. I do appriciate you guys doing this. I declined to return the phone call from their security guy after they CLEARLY told me they did not want my business.

I did by the way have the direct line for the directors, and over a month went by with my half dozen phone messages went unanswered. It wasn't until several of you guys sent letters did they try to do anything about this. They treated me really really poorly. I wish you guys had heard the conversation that I had that prompted this whole forum =\. I'm happy if it worked out for ya'll, but not going back until I see it in writing.

My 2 cents.

Merry xmas.
